Description
H. G. WATSON FLASH LIGHT Dec. 1 1925.
Original Filedv June 7, 192
m a av M Patented Dec. 1., 1925. I
HARRY G. WATSON, OF FAIRBANKS, TERRITORY OF ALASKA.
' FLASH LIGHT.
Application filed June 7, 1924, Serial No. 718,586. Renewed August 26,1925.
To all whom it may concern: 1
Be it known that I, HARRY G. WATSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fairbanks, Territory of Alaska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Flash Lights, of which the following is a specification. v
This invention relates to flashlights, and it consists in the novel features hereinafter described and claimed.
An objectof the invention is to provide, in a flashlight structure,'means for generating an electric current, and means for conducting the current to a bulb provided upon wound, and which is operatively connected with the generator.
In the accompanying drawing, Figurel is a sectional view of the flashlight.
Figure 2 is a transverse sectional view of the flashlight, taken on the line 2-2 of Fi re 1.
.As lllustratedin the accompanying drawing, the flashlight comprises a casing 1,
which is of general elliptical shape. A
a bracket 3 is mounted upon said hanger. A socket 4 is carried by the bracket 3 and is adapted to receive a lamp bulb 5. A reflector 6'is mounted upon the socket 4, and houses the bulb and passes through the side of the casing 1. A lens 7 is carried at the outer portion of the reflector 6. A generator-.8 is mounted upon thechanger and its shaft is provided with a gear wheel 9, which is operatively connected by means of a train of gear wheels 10, with a shaft 11, which is 'ournalled in the casing 1.
shaft 11.1s disposed transversely across a spring actuated barrel '12 which is housed within the casing 1. The terminal gear wheel of the train 10 meshes with a gear wheel 13, which is mounted "upon the'side. I bf the spring barrel 12. A train of gear The ly connected with one of the terminal gear wheels-of the train 14, as best shown in Figure 2 of the drawings.
, When the spring of the barrel 12 is wound up by turning the crank handle 16, rotary .movement is transmitted from the barrel through the train of gear wheels 10, to the shaft of the generator 8, whereby an electric current is generated, and the said current passes from the generator over conductor wires 17 to the lamp. bulb 5, which is illuminated. T-he lampibulb 5 will remain illuminated, so long as the spring'of the barrel 12, is in a wound condition, and in practice, it is found that the bulb will remain in an illuminated condition, for a period of nme or ten minutes.
Having'described the invention, what is' claimed is:
In combination,. a casing, a hanger' depending from an intermediate portion of the top of thecasing, 'shafts journaled 'between the inner end of'the hanger and one laterally of the intermediate portion of the hanger and terminating in a socket, an electric bulb in the socket, wires electrically -withthe pinion, and a motor in the casing on the opposite side of the hanger than is disposed the bracket, and one of said shafts operatively connected with the motor.
In testimony whereof I 'aflix my signature.
HARRY er. WATSON.
