IMPROVEMENT IN PERSPECTIVE-DRAWING APPARATUS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No.156,209, dated October 27, 1874; application filed March 25, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CONRAD DIEHL, of the city and county of St. Louis andState of Missouri, have invented an Apparatus embodying the principles of Object-Drawing, of which the following is a specification:
It is the object of my apparatus to illustrate the task of reproducing the impression which the eye receives of real objects upon a plane.
A in the annexed drawing represents a horizontal plane, tablet, or other support, upon which the object to be drawn is placed. On the edge of this table is vertically erected the frame 0 G, to which a net, of equal squares, B, is fastened, representing the picture-sur- This net of lines may be constructed of cords or wires, or may be engraved upon'a glass plate, which is slid into the frame. A number of squares, equal to those through which the object is seen from a fixed point of View, being traced on the drawing-paper, the student is enabled to inscribe the boundinglines and details of an object into the squares on the paper as they appear inscribed in the squares of the apparatus. A set-screw, D, working against a cleat, E, or some other suitable 'contrivance, is attached to the support A for the purpose of fastening the same to a desk or drawing-table.
