Description

Patented Nov. 17, 1925.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ANGELO DEL GIUDICE, OF YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO.
LOCK-CONTROL srIGoT. i
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that ANGELO DEL GIUDICE, citizen of the United States of America, residing at Youngstown, in the county of Mahoning and State of Ohio, has invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lock-Control Spigots, of which the following` is a specification.
rllhis invention relates to spigots, and more particularly to a spigot that is so constructed as to provide a lock control in order that unauthorized opening of the spigot may be guarded against..
Other objects and advantages of the detailed construction, assembly and functioning of the combined elements will be so clearly apparent from the followingdisclosure that it would only be unnecessary and undesirable repetition to further refer to them initially, and for a more complete conception thereof reference will be had to the accompanying drawings, illustrating a pra-ctical embodiment ofv the improvements, in which drawings- Figure 1 .is a sectional view of the device.
Figure is a side elevation of key with part broken away.
YFigure 3 is an endv view of the device.
By referring to Figure 1, it will be seen that l. have provided a bo( y member 1 having a small opening 2 which extends to point 3 where a valve seat 4 is positioned. The outer end of the body member 1 is pro-A vided with a central threaded opening 5. Functioning within this central threaded opening 5, there is a threaded valve carrier (i carrying a valve 7 which seats against the valve seat 4. The threaded valve carrier G is also provided with key .pins 8, 9 and 10. In order to operate the spigot, a lock 11 is removed from the opening 12 in the upper end 13, of a lock bolt 14, which passes centrally through the central threaded opening 5 at point 15. The lock bolt 14 is now removed and a key 16 is inserted so that the openings 17, 18 and 19, function with the key pins 8, 9 and 10. The operator may now turn the key 16 thereby unseating the valve 7 and allowing the fluid to flow to a depending exit 20. Of course., it is understood that the valve 7 may be seated again by turning the key in the opposite direction carrying the threaded valve carrier 6 so as to force the valve 7 against the valve seat et. The body member 1 is tapered at end 21 and is provided with threads 22 to function with an opening in thekeg or barrel.
Having now made a full and complete disclosure of a practical embodiment of the invention, it will be understood, however, that I do not limit myself to the exact details as set forth, excepting as they come within the purview of the appended claim, when viewed in the light of the disclosure and a fair interpretation of the same, the isual range of equivalents being in contemplation.
l/Vhat I do claim as patentably novel is A valve mechanism of the character de"- scribed, comprising a body member, a central opening in said body member, a valve seat formed at the inner end of the central opening, a threaded central opening in said body member, a threaded valve carrier functioning within said central threaded open-l ing, a valve secured to said threaded valve carrier, three key pins secured to said threaded valve carrier, a depending exit leading from the central threaded opening, a lock bolt functioning through the outer end of said body member, means for holding said lock bolt in position, a key functioning with said key pins, substantially as described for the purpose set forth.
vIn testimony whereof I ailiX my signature.
ANGELO DEL GIUDICE.
