Description

M. P. H. PATTERSON.

Patented Oct. 20,1874.
' THE GRA PHIG CQPHOY O'UTHJQLI PARK FLACLIN.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MIRIAM P. H. PATTERSON, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
IMPROVEMENT IN M EDICATED CORN-FILES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 156,] 73, dated October 20, 1874; application filed April 28,1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Mrs. MIRIAM P. H. PAT- TERSON, of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented an Improvement in Medicated Corn-Files of which the following is a specification:
The nature of this improvement relates to the medication of a corn-file for curing corns and other excrescences; and its object is to so medicate the file that the proper benefit will be derived from it without the use of plasters or other medioaments.
In the accompanying drawings the file is shown in perspective. It is made from a piece of Wood, with a handle, A, and blade B. The blade is dipped into melted white glue; then immediately into fine sand mixed with about one-sixteenth part of emery; then left to dry.
When dry, the blade is dipped into a compound made of the following ingredients Six grains of powdered camphor gum; ten grains of powdered alum; fifty grains of arsenic; one pound of best Vermilion paint, the whole thoroughly mixed; or the medicated paint may be applied to the sanded portion of the tile by means of a brush, if preferred.
The file is ready for use when thoroughly dry, and should be used dry upon corns or other excrescences.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The compound for medicating corn-files, made of powdered camphor-guin, powdered alum, and arsenic, in about the proportions and applied substantially as herein set forth.
