Description
Nov. 10,1925- R. RIOS MEANS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF REENFORCED CEMENT FLOORS Filed Nov. 22. 1922 Patented Nov. 10, 1925.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
RAMGN RIOS, 0F ZMADBIZD, SPAIN. I
Application filed November 22, 1922.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that RAMoN RIOS, a subject of the King of Spain, residing at Madrid, in the province of Madrid and Kingdom of Spain, has invented certain new and useful Improvements in Means for the Construction of Reenforced-Cement Floors, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a removable or portable form or mould of sheet metal which forms the bed for the concrete floor and supports thereof, while at the same time the mould or casing is provided with means whereby a groove is formed in the concrete support; which groove is adapted to carry ceiling members after the mould has been removed.
One of the objects of this invention is to provide a mould or casing for casting concrete floors, constructed of flexible material in such manner that the mould may be readily removed after the floor has been moulded and set, and no longer requires the support of the said retaining mould.
A further object is to provide a mould of the character described and with a projecting rib or ridge which is adapted to mark and form a groove in the haunch of the floor-arch; said indentation or recess being used as a support or anchoring means for ceiling members. These and other objects hereinafter set forth are attained by means of the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a vertical transverse section of a reenforced concrete floor construction, showing the application of this invention.
Figure 2 is a diagrammatic illustration showing how the forms are set and held for the application of concrete, and
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the mould or form embodying this invention.
Referring to the drawings in detail, a, indicates a mould or casing of bent sheet metal having a flat portion 6, and curved sides 0, whereby the moulds form, at the same time, the temporary bed for *the floor 7L, and the casing around the haunch or girder portions which support the floor, as shown at f. A protruding rib or flange cl, is formed upon the sides of the casing or mould, as clearly shown in the various Serial No. 602,558.
views. The purpose of this ridge is to provide a recess in the haunch or floor support after the mould or casing has been removed, and this groove, 9, forms a support for ceiling members 2'. The said ceiling members may be of terra-cotta, wood or metal and may subsequently be plastered. The lowermost ends of the moulds are bent at right angles to form a stiffening member e, and thus reenforce the mould or casing along its longitudinal ends.
In the employment of this device the easing is set in position on suitable temporary uprights j, and temporary cross beams and planks 7c, and Z, respectively. The moulds a; may be split at m, and suitable securing means provided whereby the span of the arch supports or haunch moulds or both may be adjusted.
After the concrete construction has set and it is desired to remove the mould, same may be easily accomplished by pulling the sides of the mould toward the outer, and for this purpose the flanged ends 6, are provided as a hold for pincers or like tool.
It is obvious that modifications may be embodied without departing from the spirit of this invention and it is therefore not intended to limit same to the particular embodiment shown.
lVhat is claimed is 1. A mould formed of flexible material for reenforced concrete floor construction, means formed thereon for providing a recess or locking groove for supporting ceiling members in the said floor construction.
2. A mould formed of flexible material, for reenforced concrete floor construction,
means formed thereon for providing a re cess or looking groove in the haunch or girder portion of the sald floor constructlon, for supporting ceiling members, a flange formed alon the lower ed e of said mould and eX- tending at right angles to the haunch thereof, said flange acting as a reenforcing means and providing a pulling edge whereby the groove forming means of the mould may be pulled clear of the groove in the haunch to permit the removal of the mould.
In testimony whereof he aiiixes his signature.
RAMON RIOS.
