PAN-GREASING MACHINE.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILHELM MOLLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia I? and,St ate of Pennsylvania, have invented greasing pans, such as disclosed in Letters 15 brushes, which may Patent of the United States No. 1,532,256, granted me April 7 1925. The objects are to provide novel means, for feeding grease to the pan greas ng be repaired or taken apart without interfering with the brushes and their operating mechanism, and to which access may be readily had.
These objects, and other advantageous ends which will be described hereinafter, .I attain in the following manner, reference being had to the accompanying drawings in which Figure .1 is a side elevation of a pan greasing machine having my invention applied thereto,

Referringto the drawings, 1 indicates a frame of sultable construction having a compartment 2, 3 a motor mounted in the co npartment, 4 a reduction unit connected, wlth the motor, 5 mechanism connected with the reduction unit for transforming rotary motion to reciprocating harmonic motion, 6 a
rack connected with the mechanism and slid- 0 suitably connected therewith and the frame.
The above mechanism is described more in detail in my patent: referred to above.
My improved grease feeding means 1s at 29 and connected with the pump mounted on the frame and is adapted to feed grease to the brushes by manipulating a pedal. It consists 'of grease conduits, each made up of a curved pipe 11 secured to a T 12 connected by a flexible hose 13'with a pump 14 in a grease tank 15. When pump 14 isoperated, it will suck grease from the tank and force it through the conduit onto the greasing brush 7 The conduit is normally positioned so that it will not interfere with the pans to be greased as they are slid over the brushes. When it is desired to feed grease to the brushes, the pipes 11 are swung into position adjacent the brushes as shown in Figure 2. y j
The mechanism for swinging the ipes to this position consists of a rocker s aft 16 mounted in suitable hearings on the ma-- chine, sleeves 17 slidably keyed to the rocker shaft 16 and having stems 18 to which Ts 12 are secured, an arm 19 secured. to the shaft, a rod 20 having one end pivoted to arm 19 and the other end21 loosely connected with a pedal 22 preferably by bending the end of the rod under the end 23 of the pedal, and a compression sprin 24 mounted between a collar 25 on the rof and a guiding bracket 26 on the frame. As pedal 22 is pressed downward it will allow compression spring 24 to lift rod 20, r ck shaft 16 and swing pipes 11 into positlon adjacent the greasing brushes-so that grease may be fed from the pump through the grease conduit onto the brushes. 1
The mechanism for operating the pum consists of a rod 27 passing through gui ing bracket 26 and having one end pivoted to the pedal and the other end loosely connected preferably by a pin and slot connection with a pump actuating lever 28 pivoted plungers 30 at 31, and acompression sprm 32 for restoring the pump and pipes" 11 to t eir idle position. Spring 32 is preferably mounted between guiding "bracket 26 and a collar 33 on rod 27. '2
To feed grease to the brushes, the pedal 22 is pressed downward and released to allow the parts to be moved to their idle position.v ,The firstpart of the downward movement of the pedal allows rod 20 to be moved upward by spring 24, which is normally under compression, until a stop-34 engages the under side of guiding bracket 26. Rod 20, throughthe arm 19, rocker shaft 16 and sleeves 17, swings pipes 11 to a position adjacent the brushes. Due to the pin and slot connection between the upper end of rod 27 and the pump actuating lever 28, the first part of the downward movementof pedal 22 does not operate the pump but merely compresses spring 32. A
spring 24, will compress spring 24 so that when the pedal is again operated spring 24 will swing pipes 11 into position adjacent the brushes.
In order to keep each pipe 11 in proper alignment with its brush when the brushes are adjusted by the screws 10, I connect a yoke 35 with each step bearing 8 preferably by a stud bolt 36. The ends of each yoke 35 are provided with eyes 37 which are disposed at the opposite ends of sleeves 17 and through which the rocker shaft 16 passes. When the step bearings 8 which carry the pan greasing brushes are adjusted, the sleeves which carry pipes 11, being slidably keyed to the rocker shaft, will be moved with the step bearings and thus keep the pipes 11 in proper alignment with the greasing brushes.
The grease feeding means above described may be repaired or taken apart without affecting the brushes or their operating mecha- I11Sm.
While I have described my invention as taking a particular form, it will be understood that the various parts may be changed without departing from the spirit thereof, and hence I do not limit myself to the precise construction set forth, but consider that I am at liberty to" make such changes and alterations as fairly come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a pan greasing machine having a grease pump' and greasing brushes; grease conduits connected with the pump and movably mounted on the machme, and means for moving the conduits adjacent the brushes and for operating the pump to feed grease through the conduits onto the brushes.
2. In a pan greasing machine having a feed grease through the conduits onto the brushes.
3. In a pan greasing machine having a grease pump and greasing brushes mounted for adjustment toward and from each other; grease conduits connected with the pump and movably mounted on the machine; means connecting each brush with a conduit whereby an adjusting movement of the brush will be imparted to the conduit, and means for moving the conduits adjacent the brushes and'for operating the pump to feed grease onto the brushes. 4. In a pan greasing machine having a grease pump and greasing brushes; a rocker shaft mounted on the machine; grease conduits keyed to the shaft and connected with the pump, and means for rocking the shaft and for operating the pump to feed grease onto the brushes.
5. In a pan greasing machine having a grease pump and greasing brushes mounted for adjustment; a rocker shaft mounted on the machine; grease conduits slidably keyed on the rocker shaft and connected with the pump; means connecting the conduits with the brushes whereby an adjusting movement of the brushes will slide the conduits on the rocker shaft, and means for rocking the shaft and for operating the pump to feed grease onto the brushes.
6. In a pan greasing machine having a grease pump and greasing brushes; grease conduits connected with the pump and movably mounted on the machine; a pedal; means connected to the pedal and the conduits, and means connected with the pedal and the pump, whereby a movement of the pedal will move the conduits adjacent the brushes and operate the pump to feed grease through the conduits onto the brushes.
7. In a pan greasing machine having a grease pump and greasing brushes; grease conduits connected with the pump and movably mounted on. the machine; a pedal; means connected to the pedal and the conduits, and means connected with the pedal and the pump, whereby a part movement of the pedal will move the conduits adjacent the brushes without operating the pump and further movement of the pedal will operate the pump without moving the conduits.
8. In a pan greasing machine having a grease pump and greasing brushes; a rocker shaft mounted on the machine; grease conduits keyed to the shaft and connected with the pump; a pedal; means connecting the pedal with the rocker shaft, and means connecting the pedal with the pump whereby I to bring the conduits adjacent the brushes and operate the pump to feed grease through the conduits to the brushes.
9. In a pan greasing machinehaving a grease pump and greasing brushes; a rocker shaft mounted on the machine; grease conduits secured to the shaft and connected with the pump; a pedal mounted on the machine; an arm on the rocker shaft; a rod having one end pivoted to the arm and the other end loosely connected with the pedal; another rod pivoted to the pedal and loosely connected with the pump; resilient means for moving the first mentioned rod to rock the shaft and bring the conduits adjacent the brushes when the pedal ismoved to operate the pump, and resilient means for bringing the pedal and the parts connected therewith to their idle position.
10. In a pan greasing machine having a grease pump and greasing brushes; a rocker shaft .mounted on the machine; sleeves slidably keyed to the shaft; stems on the sleeves;
a grease conduit secured to each stem and I connected With the pump, and means for rocking the shaft to bring the conduits ad-' jacent the brushes and for operating the pump to feed grease through the conduits to the brushes.
11. In a pan greasing machine having a grease pump and greasing brushes mounted for adjustment; a rocker shaft mounted on the machine; sleeves slidably keyed to the shaft; conduits secured to the sleeves and connected with the pump; means connected with the brushes including a yoke having its ends disposed at opposite sides of the sleeves whereby an adjusting movement of the brushes will be imparted to the sleeves, and means for moving the rocker shaft to bring the conduits adjacent the brushes and for operating the'pump to feed grease through the conduits onto the brushes.
