Application filed January 23, W24. Serial No. 687307.
To all whom it may oonccm-.'
lie it known that 1, WILLIAM E. HALE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fort Washington, in the county of Montgomery and State oi" Pennsylvania, have iii-- vented a new and useful Improvement in Skip-Hoist Equipment, of which the following is a specification.
Objects of the present ihvention are to insure proper clearance between the descending skip bucket and the more especially in cases where the latter may shift or be shifted a little after having been put in closed position by the ascending bucket, to avoid any bumping action be tween the bucket and gate and to provide for smooth sliding contact between them, and other objects of the invention will ap pear from the following description.
The invention maybe said'to comprise a cam shoe devife'e carried by one face of the bucket and projecting beyond the lower edge and toward the center line of the bucket to insure proper positioning of the ate to afford celarance for the passage of the descending bucket, with or without an outwardly sloping upper portion for shockless contact with the gate.
The invention further comprises the improvements to be presently described and finally claimed.
In the following description reference will be made to the accompanying draw.- ings forming part thereof and in which Figure l is an elevational viewof a skip bucket showing the cam shoe device applied to one face thereof.
Fig. 2 is an elevational View illustrating the gate in closed position.
Fig. 3 is a similar view showing, the gate in open or loading position, and
Fig. l is a view similar to Figure. .l showing a portion of the gate and its hook or, in other words, it is a face view looking to ward the left in Fig.3.
in the drawings 1 is-a cam shoe device carried by one faceof the skip bucket 2, and it irojccts as at 3 beyo'ndthe lower edge u tewhrd the center of the bucket.
pivotal loader gate,
The mode of as follows:
In ascending the outwardly sloping upper I0 device turns the gate upward in closed position, as shown in Fig. 2, in which positionit is supposed to reman until the descending skip bucket 2, acting on the hook 5, turns it downward so 7| that-itcomes intoloading position as shown in Fig. 3. However, the gate does not al- Ways remain in turned 11 closed position but moves or is moved slightly dowIiwa-rd out of that position and when that happens so the inwardly projecting part 3 of the de-.. scending cam shoe device turns the gate upward into its proper position so that clear-- ance is provided between it and the bucket, and the outwardly sloping upper portion 4 operation may be described of the cam shoe device provides a means for smoothly diverting the gate from the bucket if the gate should tend to contact with the bucket after the part Shes turned the gate upward and cleared it. The invention is not limited to matters of inereform or otherwise than the prior art and the appended claims may require. I claim: 1. Skip hoist equipment having in com- 95." bination a pivotal loader gate, an ascending and descending skip, bucket adapted to close and open the gate, and a cam shoe device parts or sections con- 55 i) nected by a spring 12 which acts as a'cu'slb Q carried by one face of the bucket and projecting beyond the lower edge and toward the center line of the bucket to insure positioning of-the gate to afford clearance for B the passage of the descending bucket.
2. Skiphoist equipment having in combinationa pivotal loaderugate, an ascending and descending skip bucket ada; ted to close and open the gate, and a cam shoe device carried by one face of the bucket and pro jectingbeyond the lower edge and toward the center line of the bucket and provided with-an outwardly sloping upper portion.
WILLIAM -E. HALE.
