Be it known that I, Nus E.' GULLERUD, a citizen of the 'United States, residing at .Maddocln in the county of, Benson and State of North Dakota, have invented Acerv tain vnew and useful Improvements in Clothes Mangles, of which the following is a specification.

r"his -invention relates to clothes inangles. An 'obJect of Ithe invention is the production of a clothes mangle which will effectively iron clothes without damage to the buttons or other fastening means attached thereto.

Another' object of this invention is the Aproduction of aclothes mangle which-may be folded up so as to occupy but small space -whennot in use. mangle which may be :f easilyandquickly setv up or taken down and ,will efficiently perform its intended functions.

i A further object of this invention: is the production of a clothes mangle `which will 25 spect to each-"of its component parts-so that -its n'ianufa'cture is'economically facilitated be highly cflicient in. operation, yet of marked simplicity as a Whole and in re both as regard tol parts and their assembly.

vlVith these and other objects in view which may be incident to my improvements,

. the" invention consists in the parts and combinations to be hereinafter set forth and 'claimed, with the understanding that the' Aseveral. necessary elements comprising my :i invention, may be varied in construction, proportions and arrangement, vwithout depart-ing from the spirit yand scope, ofthe appended claims.

In order to make my invention; more clearly understood 'I have .shown in thera'cf companying drawings means for carrying the same into practical effect, without limiting the improvements in their `useful ap-- plication to the particular constructions,

The abutting ends ofthe upper and lower portions 3 and 4 are vslotted as shown at (5, the object of which will hereinafter appear. 'lhe side sections are connected at their upper ends by a top sectonie 7, secured in a permanent manner.

The bottom section is provided with corresponding right angular arms 8 and 9. Mounted in the arms 9 are thumb screws 10 adapted to lclamp betweent-hemselves and the arms 8 the edges of a table. The bottom section is further provided with a detach'-, able shelf or table lllsupported by corresponding rods 12- liaving upon their free end hooks 13 which engage eye screws 1&1 in the' 75 vupper edge ot the bottom section.

l `ormeil in the upper portions 13 ofthe side sections are guideways 14. Mounted in the guideways 14 is a U-shapedifraine or a yoke 15. The yoke or frame 15 is pivotally 80 attached to a. screw 16 mounted inthe center of the top section 7. The screw 16v is provided with a handle 17 by means of which the screw is revolved to cause the yoke 15 to travel up or down in the guideway 14.-. J ournaled in the yoke 15 is a roller 18, the

object of which will hereinafter appear.

Journaled' in the lower portions of the side section 2 is a roller 19 and intermediate rthe rollers 18 and 19, journaled in the slots 90 14 is a roller 2O around which is wound several layers of cloth or fabric 21, the object of whichfwill hereinafter appear. The roller 20 is mounted upon a shaft 22 one end of which projects through one of the slots G andiis provided upon its projected end with a shoulder 23 adapted to re-j ceive a ycrank 24 having a handle 25 by means of which the roller 20 is revolved.

lVhile I have shown and described the preferred embodiment ot 'my invention, I vwish it to be understood that Ido not c onln'e myseltl to the precise details ot' construction herein set forth, by way of illustration, as it ifs apparent that many changes and variations may be made therein, by those skilled in 'the an, without departing from the spirit of the invention, or exceeding the sco Je of the appended claims.

I-ilaving thus described the various teatures ol my invention, what I claim as vnew and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. In aI-mangle, a two part frame, a roller journaled in the lower part an adjustable member within the upper p'i rt, a roller jouriialed'withinthe adjustable member, an inleriiiediate roller means for rotating the intermediate roller and a detachable shelf supported by the-lower, part.

2.` In a mangle, a two part fframe, a roller journaled in the lower part an adjustable member mounted in the upper part, a roller' journaled in the adjustable member, slots in the abutting ends ot' the tWo parts, an in termediate roller mounted in the slots, means for removing the intermediate roller and means for rotating the intermediate roller.

3. In a mangle, a two part frame, a roller v journaled in the lower part, a sliding member mounted in the upper part, means 'for .adjusting the .sliding member, a roller journaled in the sliding member, an intermediate roller, means :tor removing the intermediate ing composed of two varts hinged 'togetherand provided with locking means, a sliding member mounted 1n the trame between the upper parts of'the side sections, a roller journaled in the sliding member, means for adjusting the sliding member, a roller journaled between the lower parts of the side sections, lan intern'iediate roller, and means for rotating the i'ntern'ilediate roller.

6. In a mangle, a frame comprising parallel side sections, top and bottom sections connecting the side sections, means carried by the bottom section -for supporting the frame, a shelf'detachablj7 supported onthe bottom section, the side sections formed in upper and lower portions hinged together and provided with locking means, the abutting ends of the upper and lower 'portions of the side lsections having corresponding slots, a sliding frame mounted in the upper portions ofthe side sections, means for adjusting the sliding frame, a roller journaled in the sliding traine, a roller-journaled in the lower portions of the side sections, an intermediate roller journaled in the slots .in the side sections, and meansfvfor rotatingthe interi'nediate roller. y In testimony whereof I` ailix my ,signa-v ture. l
