The obj eetof this {invention ;is :to p iOVIde a leggsupportrfor tablesof suohcon-stmaetion that the sameejmayw-be folded beneath the table gtopiwhen not required 1 for supporting the; table; and 2 whereby; the: said tablepresents aismalltand compact package for stor age-ors'for sliiplnentr A:,furtheryobject-is to arrange-on. the un der face of a table parallel flangesea cl1-;p. 0=-

A still further object is to provide a table top .with foldable leg supports, in which the said legs are hingedly connected to bars that are movable on tracks between guideways on the bottom ofthe table, the rails of the track having their ends upset and rounded to limit the sliding movement of the bars when the legs are in folded or in table supporting positions, and to effect in holding the said legs'in either of such positions.
The improvement consists in other objects and details of construction which willbe fully set forth in the following description, illustrated by the accompanying drawings and pointed out with particularity in the appended claim.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a bottom plan view of the im- 4 provideitheg-rails ofna track. V

each of the channeled members is formed;
with, acentral openingg3.
At a: suitable distance inward of the, guides 2'there are secuRcdmetaLplates ehre:' spectivelyi Each! of I these, plates is of length; approximately" equalling that; of the; guidesfl; and. ,each of the said plates has its, The plates end; upsetsandt rounded, as at 5:
the-rodsisof a length equalling the distance bet weenthengui-des 2, butfthe rod '7 has anranged: on vitsends preferably removable stubf shafts 8 onwhichlthere are journaled' wheels or rollers 9. The stub shafts pass through the openings 3 in the guides, and
the wheels or rollers travel in the said guides.
Each of the cross sectionally rounded bars is provided with continuous grooves or depressions 10, and the inner surfaces provided by the said depressions are arranged onthe rails 4, the depressions being of a length corresponding to the width the rails.
Outward of the depressions 10 each of the bars 6 and 7 is preferably formed with additional depressions in which there are 2 neeaeee the bar 6 are arranged to cross the legs on the bar 7. On the legs 12 there are secured angle brackets 13 each of which having one end formed with an eye 14. The eyes on the cross .legs are designed to align and to receive therethrough the ends of a rod 15. Passing through the ends of the rod 15 and contacting with the eyes 14: there are cotter pins. Preferably there is a washer or wear plate on the rod between the cooperating eyes 14: of the brackets 13.
Between the cooperating pairs of crossed legs 12 there are pivotally secured links 16 which have their confronting ends pivotally eonnected, as at 17, and one of the links at its said pivoted end is formed with a lip 18 to engage the second link when the links are arranged in parallelism. Also between one or both pair of the opposed legs 12 there 20 are cross braces 19.
If desired, the legs may be made up of adjustable sections as disclosed in Figure 6 of the drawings. In this instance the inner leg section carries'guides 20 for the outer leg section 21. The outer leg section is pro vided with an elongated slot 22 through which passes a bolt member 23 carried by the inner leg section.- This bolt is engaged by a winged nut 2a which contacts with a washer 25 arranged over the slot or opening 22.
In Figure 1 of the drawings, the legs are in folded position. The legs are drawn outwardly in the direction of the arrow A in 3 5 Figure 1. It should have been stated that the bar 6 overlies the bar 7 when the device is folded. The outward drawing of the legs will cause the bar 7 to engage with the rounded ends of the rails l, limiting the movement of the legs and bars in one direction. The bar 7 is held against the stops 5, and the bar 6 is then moved on the rails to bring the same to engage with the opposite stops 5 on the said rails. This spreads the legsto arrange the same in set-up position,
as illustrated in Figure 1-. The spreading of the legs automatically swings the brace links 16 into inter-locking engagement, so that the table is strongly and efliectively supported. The parts are moved in an opposite direction to that just described in folding the legs beneath the table top, it being understood that the bar 6 simply travels between the guides and can be raised over the said guides to rest on the bar 7 when the legs are folded.
It is believed that the foregoing description, when read on the drawings will fully disclose my construction and its advantages, but it is to be understood that I am entitled to such changes therefrom as fairly fall within the scope of what I claim. g
It is, of course, obvious that one pair of legs may be of a less length than the other. This construction is especially desirable when the table top is employed for drafting or like purposes where a slanting top is re quired. The rounded ends of the plates 4 are comparatively long, as by such arrangement the table may be lifted by grasping the top thereof. I
Having described the claim A table top having depending flanges provided with channeled guides, a pair of bars having their ends contacting the guides, trunnions on the ends of one of the bars received in the guides, wheels journaled on said trunnions, legs arranged in crossed pairs hingedly associated with the respective bars, means pivotally connecting the respective pairs of crossed legs, rails on which the crossed bars travel when the legs are in set-up or are in folded position, and said rails having upset ends limiting the movement of the bars on the rails in both di rections.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
