Disposed intermediate the ends of the handle C is arranged a plug 30 of insulating material having an annular flange 31 formed at one end thereof. This plug is adapted to be secured vto the handle by a suitable movable screw or the like 32 and extends through the handle and through the axial center of the said plug.
The coil D carried by the handle is preferably of the spider web typel or flat inductance type constructed in accordance with 'my pendingv application iiled'Feb. 9, 1923, Serial Number 618,075. The plug 3() extends through the axial center of the coil D and the reinforcing pins 33 of the coil are adapted to engage said plug and thus the plug tends to hold the reinforcing pins in place. A radio coil unit comprising a base formed of insulating material, pairs of angle brackets formed of electric conducting material connected with said base, each of said brackets including an attaching leg and an upstanding arm, sockets connected With pairs of brackets each including a spacing block of insulating material and end members connected with the block at the terminals thereof formed of electric conducting material and including upstanding guide portions U-shaped in cross section, means eX- tending through the upstanding arms of the angle brackets and into said end members and the spacing blocks, handles formed of insulating material adapted to fit in said guide portions of said end members, contact plates secured to the lower end of said handles and extending around the opposite edges thereof for engaging said guide portions, and coils secured to said handles and connected with said contact plates.

In a radio coil unit, a handle formed of insulating material, a coil carried by said handle, contact plates secured to the lower end of said handle at the opposite sides thereof and connected With the terminals of the coil, and curved portions formed on said plates extending around the opposite edges of said handle.
5. In a radio coil unit for the purpose specified, a handle formed of insulating material, a flat inductance coil including abody and a plurality of reinforcing pins extending through the body formed of insulating material and terminating at the inner periphery of the coil, a plug of insulating material fitted in said coil engaging the inner ends of said pins, an annular flange formed on the outer face of the plug engaging the outer face of the coil, the inner face of the plug being fitted against said handle, and a retaining member extending through said handle and through the axial center of said plug for retaining the plug in firm contact with the handle.
