PATENT OFFICE.
ANTHONY SHAGIKOSKI, F HOMER CITY, PENNSYLVANIA.
CLOSURE FOR SIB/UP PUMPS.
Application filed. March 31, 1925. Serial No. 19,696.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANTHONY SHACL KOSKI, a citizen of the United States, residing at Homer City, in the county of Indiana and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Closures for Sirup Pumps, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a closure for a dispensing faucet, such as a sirup faucet as used in connection with soda fountains.
The main object of the invention is to provide an appliance which will overcome the continual dripping now experienced in 1 connection with such an outlet and to cover the outlet edge of the faucet so that flies and the like cannot lodge thereon, to the end that the faucet will generally be sani tary.
Additional objects and advantages will become apparent from a consideration of the description following taken in connection with accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a view illustrating the improvements in side elevation and in open position, in connection with a receptacle and a dispensing faucet;
Figure 2 is a view illustrating the improvements in connection with a faucet and in closed position; A
Figure 3 is a detail perspective view of the closure-mounting r'od;
Figure 4 is a perspective View of the clamp used, and
Figure 5 is a perspective View of the closure member.
Referring specifically to the drawings, 1 designates a rod having an offset end 11 on which the closure member 3 is pivotally mounted by means of bearings 13 to swing from a horizontal axis. Extending from the closure member 8 is a curved arm 2. A nut 4: is threaded on the end 11 to secure the closure in place. Rod 1 is rigidly secured in a loop 5. Loop 5 forms part of a clamp which also has a loop 6 and the ends of the loop are secured together by means of bolts as at 7 and let. The loop 6 erfigages the discharge member or nozzle 8 o fountain, the outlet end thereof being designated 12. The closure 3 is substantially conical at its upper surface and it is provided with a rim 23 that engages the end 12 of the nozzle 8 to close it.
'A receptacle such as a soda water glass is shown at 9, and is adapted to receive material dispensed from the outlet 8.
The closure 3 is normally in closed position and thus prevents dripping from the outlet 12 and as well keeps flies and the like off of any surface over which the sirup may travel, thus keeping the parts sanitary. In connection with a dispensing operation, the glass 9 is moved laterally against the curved member or arm 2, thereby opening the valve 3 and enabling the sirup to flow from the outlet 8 into the receptacle 9 upon proper operation of the pump.
Various changes may be resorted to provided they fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
I claim as my invention:
1. A closure for a dispensing faucet or pump, comprising in combination with the outlet thereof, a clamp secured to said outlet, a rod carried by said clamp, a member pivoted to said rod, said member carrying a plug thereon adapted to close said outlet, said member on the side of its fulcrum opposite to said plug having a depending arm whereby said closure may be moved to open position-by contact of a glass or similar receptacle against said arm.
2. A closure for dispensing faucets or pumps, comprising in combination with the outlet thereof, a clamp thereon, a rod carried by said clamp having a lateral pivot member, a member pivoted to said lateral pivot member, said pivoted member having a plug on one end thereof adapted to close said outlet, and having at its other end a depending arm whereby said closure may be moved to open position by contact of a glass or similar receptacle against said arm.
