CENTRAL SUSPENSION FOR THE MOVABLE FABRIC FRAMES; OF EMBROIDERY MACHINES.
Application filed June 2,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GoTTwALT Sienna, a citizen of the German Republic, and a resident of Plauen, Germany, have invented a new and useful Improved Central Suspension for the Movable Fabric Frames of Enibroidery Machines, of which the following is a specification.
In contradistinction to known movable or fabric frames of embroidery machines in which sliding friction-producing members are employed, the present invention relates to a device in which rolling friction instead of the sliding friction exists. The movable frame is provided with rolls rolling along a guide rod provided for'them. The first advantage obtained by this arrangement is the entire absence of vibrations in vsaid frame, the Second consists in the simplification of the construction, and the third becomes visible in the quality of the embroidery goods manufactured on this improved machine.
In order to make my invention more clear, I refer to the accompanying drawing which shows, by way of example, one form of construction of the novel arrangement and combination of parts in front-view (Fig. 1) and in vertical transverse section (Fig. 2); the ends of the movable fabric frame (Fig. 1) are broken away by reason of lacking space. The details are as follows:
The vertical braces 1 of the movable frame 2 are provided with brackets 1 affixed to the braces 1 by sleeves 3. The brackets are bent downwardly and holda horizontal rail 5 having in its lower side a groove 6. The bottom surface of the rail 5 is smooth .and contacts with a supporting roll 7 carried by a bolt 8. This latter is supported in an angular member 9 consisting of a horizontal lower portion and a vertical bipartite upper portion and having two guide apertures 10 through which passes a stationarv vertical guide rod 11 affixed to the frame of the machine. A steeleband 14 guided by and suspended from, a roll 13 is attached at 12 to said vertical portion of the vertical member 9. The band 1 1 is moved to and fro by the machine whereby the vertical 1922. Serial No. 565,486.
portion of the member 9 and all parts it carries are vertically reciprocated. To prevent jamming between the member 9 and the rod 11, the former is provided with antifriction rolls 15 and 16, of which the upper one is located in front of the rod, the other behind it. Furthermore, toprevent the member 9 from oscillating in a vertical plane, viz, parallel to the movable frame 2, said memberis provided with laterally ex tending arms 17 and 18 having at their ends guide rolls 19 and 20 engaging the groove 0 of the rail 5.
I have abstained from showing also the means for reciprocating the steelband 1 1 because they are known and do not form a part of this invention. I only mention that the motion is transmitted to the band from the driving side of the embroidery machine.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
1. In an embroidery machine, the combination with the movable fabric frame, of a horizontal rail attached to said frame in front of'it; a vertically movable supporting member for said rail; at least one roll carried by said member and forming the supporting means proper for the rail; a vertical guide rod for the said member, and means for moving the member up and down along said rod, and means for laterally bracing the supporting member on said rail.
2. In an embroidery machine, the combination, with the movable frame, of a horizontal rail attached to said frame in front of it and having a groove in its lower surface; a vertically movable supporting member for said 'rail; at least one roll carried by said member and forming the supporting means proper for the rail; horizontal arms extending from the vertically moveable member to below the rail; guide-rolls carried by said arms and engaging the groove of said rail; a vertical guide rod for the. said member, and means for moving the member up and down along saidrod.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature. 1
GOTTWALT SIEBER.
