ICE-CREAM FREEZER.

To all whom it may concern:

Be itknown that 1, PAUL MADEMANN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York, in the county of Bronx and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in an Ice- Cream Freezer, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

Description.

The invention is particularly adapted for cn'iployment in connection with powerdriven apparatuses of the character mentioned. These apparatuses are provided generally with a refrigerant container or tub 8 in which is held cracked ice or brine packed about the cream container 9 and in the space 10 between the walls of said tub and said cream container. The container is preferably rotated, and to this end a bevel gear wheel 11 is mounted on the cover of the container for rotating the container. The mechanism for driving the heaters or scrapers employed in conjunction with the container is not herein shown and may be of any approved type and operated in conformity with any approved method.

Heretofore the container 9 has been indented in line with the axis of the container to form a socket or seat for a pivot which is provided as a bearing for the container. This pivot has become worn, and when, as has been the custom, the pivot is a part of the supporting plate has of necessity been discarded. In the present invention the supporting plate is a reinforcing spider ring 12. The ring '12 has a series of rack rods, the upper and free ends 14: of which are flattened as shown best in Fig. 2 of the drawings, and perforated to receive fastening devices such as the screws 15, best illustrated in Fig. 1. The diameter of the spider 12 is less than that of the bottom of the tub 8 with the result that the lower ends of the rack rods 13 are removedfrom the Wall of the tub. These rods serve to prevent the packed ice from gyrating in the tub, if adhesively attached to the container 9.

The center of the spider 12 is built up to form the boss 16 which is centrally perforated and tapped to receive the screw shank 17 of the pivot member. The shank 17, the pivot 18 and the wrench head 19 are integrally constructed. By means of the wrench head 19 the pivot member may be rigidly installed and quickly removed for replacement or repair.

The pivot 18 of the pivot member is preferably smoothed and hardened to withstand the abrasive wear of the container 9.

The spider 12 is held rigidly in service by fastening members driven through the holes 20 with which the said spider is provided.

It is obvious from the foregoing and bv reference to the above drawings that a tub such as indicated by the numeral 8 having installed therein a spider constructed as herein disclosed with rack rods 13 upwardly extending and radially flared therefrom to be secured to the said tub, is reinforced thereby It is also obvious that when desired the pivot member which forms support for the container 9 may be easily removed from service at small cost.

Claim.

The combination with a member adapted for rotation in a receptacle, of a supporting bearing plate for said member, means for anchoring said plate, said means being arranged to prevent rotation of material in the receptacle externally of said member.
