Be it known that I, CLINTONYADMI Liv- INes'roN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Long Beach, in thev county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented certain Ynew and useful Improve: ments in Changeable Exhibitors, of which the following'y is a` specification.

This invention relates to the general art of changeableexhibitors and lias more specific reference to the form of changeable exhibitor known as the double i'reelrand web type, the primary object of the invention residing in the provision of a changeable exhibitor that may be employed in dance halls, theatres, auditoriums and the like for indicating to the public the next feature upon the program, or one that may be employed upon street cars or motor busses for indicating 'the name of the approaching` street, or the point at which the vehicle is next to be brought to a stop.

An additional object of the invention resides in the provision of such a changeable exhibitor that may be manufactured and marketed at relatively small cost and one that may be employed in all of the instances set forth above, without requiring any inaterial change to the general structure of the device.

Now having particular reference to the drawing, my novel changeable exhibitor includes the provision of an open-sided sheet metal casing 5 of any desirable size or configuration.

Disposed for rotation within said casing 5, is a pair of superposed rolls 6-6, to

which are secured the strip of fabric or other of any desirable length upon which is to be horizontally printed certain indicating indicia. such as the naines. of thenext acts appearing upon a theatre program, the names of dances tovbe played by the orchestra of a dance hall'or auditorium, or the names of the. streets or stopsof cars, busses or the like, or the names of the points of destination of said cars or, busses, etc., etc.

Associated with adjacent ends of these rollers GMG are shafts or pintles 8,8 that extend outwardly of the adjacent end wall of the easing 5 and are formed with squared portions for the reception of a crank handle 9 whereby the strip 7 may be wound in opposite directions.

Adapted to be detachably positioned upon the open side of the casing 5 is a sheet metal cover or lid 10 that is formed adjacent its lower edge with a longitudinally extending opening l1 whereby the different indicating indicia upon said fabric strip 7 may be readily viewed.

This lid l0 is formed at a point directly above said opening'll with a longitudinally extending slide plate guide l2 that is provided with a relatively elongated opening 13 in its front side and adapted to be positioned within which is a strip of sheet metal le that is also formed with indicating indicia, such as Next dance, Next stop, or Next act.

Summarizing the invention it is obvious that l have evolved and produced a rectangular' body which is open on one side, there being a pair of rollers journalled in Vthis body with a legend carrying anddisplay strip arrangedvto wind upon these rollers. A. cover is provided with a flange vadapted to fit over the open side of the body, and this cover is provided with openings wherein the side edges are purposely located at equal distances beyond the opposite sides of the axes of the rollers when the cover is in position upon the body. The outer edges of the openings are thus spaced equal distances from the adjacent edges of the cover so that the cover may be reversed in its position upon the body. This construction and arrangement is advantageous in that the legend upon the slide may be located at the upper or lower portion of the body as desired, and when the' slide is opposite ends of a suitable' material 7 f located at the upper portion of the body, the legend thereon is read first, and the legend which appears upon the strip of flexible material is read following the legend upon the slide. When the cover is reversed in its position upon the body, and the slide is located at the lower portion of the body, the legend upon the strip of material is read rst through the upper opening in the cover, and the .legend upon the slide is read thereafter. In this way the legends may be interchanged by reversing the cover to cause the sign to read Next dance-fox trot, or Fox trot-next dance.

From the foregoing it will at once be evident that I have provided a highly novel, simple and useful form of changeable exhibitor and one that will meet with all of the requirements for a successful commercial use.

Minor changes may be made in the invention without departing from the spirit and scope of the appended claim.

Having thus described my invention,` what desire'to secure by ,a pair of rollers journaled in the end walls of the body, a legend carrying and display strip arranged to wind upon the rollers, a cover having a flange adapted to fit over the open side of the body, the cover being provided with openings, the side edges of which are located at equal distances beyond the opposite sides of the axes of the rollers when the cover is in position upon the body, the outer edges of the openings being spaced at equal distance from the adjacent edges of they cover whereby the cover may be reversed in its position `upon the body, the cover being provided with guides disposed along the edges of one of the openings, and a slide adapted to enter the said opening.
