IMPROVEMENT IN BARREL DRESSING AND CROZING MACHINES.
Specification forming part of LettersPatent No. 154,885, dated September 8, 1874; application filed December 27, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALFRED MILLER, of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Barrel Dressing and Orozing Machines, &c. and Ido hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification.
My invention relates to improvements in machines for dressing and crozing barrels, kegs, and buckets.

' This application relates only to improvements in the clamping-heads of the machine for holding and revolving the keg, while the inside is being turned off, the other parts being described and forming the subject of a separate application (B) filedthis day.
The heads of the machine consists of four collars or plates, B D and G H, connected together by means of collar-bolts E and G. The
plate H secured in the stationary ring H, and
the plate 0 attached to the end of the driving-shaft F, connected together by the bolts E E, form the stationary head of s the machine. The movable head consists of plate B, sliding on the shaft F, and plate D, sliding on the bolts E, connected together by bolts G.
The operation is as follows: The lever A is raised, forcing head B D'back. The keg is then placed int-he openings in plates D and H, the lever brought down, forcing plate D for ward upon the keg and securely clamping it between the heads B D and O H. Rotary motion is then given to the keg, and the operation of chamfering, crozing, and howeling the keg proceeded with in the same manner as in cases A and B.
The object and advantages of constructing and connecting the movable and stationary chucks of the barrel-holder together by means of rods, as above described, are to'insure the whole machine revolving together without depending on the frictionof the barrel placed in the chucks to revolve the stationary or supporting head, as is the case with cases A and B Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
