.J. P. HERRICK' PAIL SUPPORTING TRUCK Filed March 31, 1925 [VIII/I111,
INVENTOR ,Tosephzue .PJ-[rrdak I BY ATTORNEYS WITNESSES NI W MW Patented July 28, 1925- a simple,
Application illed ldarch '31; 1925." Serial no: 19,658.
To all whom it may concern" Be it known thatI, JosErHINE P. HER- RICK, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Cleveland, in the county of Ouyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved vPail-Supporting Truck, of which the-following is a full, clear, and exact description. 7
This invention relates to pail'supporting trucks and more specifically to an apparatus which constitutes a wheeled truck orcarriage and which is adapted to support a pail or bucket and permit the latter to be moved from place to place without the necessity of lifting the pail.
An object of the invention is therefore to provide a truck which conveniently supports a pail or bucket, holding the same against lateral displacement and permitting the same to be rolled over the floor from place to place so as to avoid the necessity of lifting and depositing a heavy pail,'full or partially full of water, and therefore re sulting in a labor saving device as well as one which saves time and provides convenient means for moving the pail about.
A further object is to provide a truck or carriage of this kind which is of extremely inexpensive construction, which adds but little weight to the pail when it is desired to manually lift the pail and carry it.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts, which will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.
Figure 1 is a View in longitudinal section illustrating my improved truck with a p'ail in osition thereon;
Figure 3 is a top plan view v Figure 4 is a plan view of the blank from which the wire netting frame is made.
A represents my improved truck, which comprises a platform 1 supported by rollers or wheels 2. I have illustrated as rollers or wheels ordinary casters, which may be connected to the platform in any approved manner, and I may employ any desired number of these casters to properly support the platform and give a wheel mount therefor.
On the platform 1 I secure a frame3. This frame 3 preferably comprisesasheet or blank ofwire netting, suchwasillustrated in 1 Figure 4:, having its ends cutout or recessed as shown att and folded on the lines 5, 6,7. and 8, to provide a basket-like frame which is rigidly secured to the platform 1 by any suitable devices, such as indicated'at 9.
The recesses 4 are of such a size and are sufficiently spaced to accommodate a pail 10 between them and to allow the pail to rest on the netting which is secured to the platformi 1 The pail projects preferably above the frame-work 3 and is provided with an ordinary handle 11, while flexible supports 12, preferably chains, are secured at their ends to the sides of the platform and are of such a length as to provide loops or bails to form handles and toallow the device ,as a whole to be lifted and transported from place to place.' 7 7 It will be noted that there is sufficient space under the netting framework at both sides of the pail 10 toaccommodate brushes, soap and other articles so that the latter are within convenient reach for use when desired. i
This device permits a pail filled with water, and which is necessarily heavy, to be moved from place to place during the scrubbing or cleaning operation, and relieves the operator -of the laborious task of lifting the pail as she moves about in doing herwork.
Various slight changes and alterations might be made in the general form of the parts described without departing from the invention, and hence I do not limit myself to the precise details set forth but consider myself at liberty to make such slight changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
I claim: r
1. Adevice of the character described, comprising a wheeled platform, a frame secured on the platform and comprising a sheet having its intermediate portion secured directly to the platform and its ends projected upwardly and-then inwardly, the
extremities of said sheet being curved cured directly to the platform and its ends projected upwardly and then inwardly, the extremities of said sheet being curved whereby an opening is formed to receive a pail when the latter is positioned on the platform, said frame being open at thesides of the device whereby entrance for articles on to the platform at opposite sides of the pail is provided.
3. A device of the character described, comprising a Wheeled platform, .a frame as cured on the platform and comprising a whereby an opening is formed to receive a pail when the latter is positioned on the platform, and a pair of flexible handles secured at their ends to the platform and at their intermediate portions extending above the frame. e
