IMPROVEMENT IN APPARATUS POR BLACK-WASHING MOVLDS.

A is an elevated water-tight tank, of any required dimensions, from the bottom of which is an escape or outlet pipe, a. B is an ordinary rubber hose, of any length and dimensions required. This hose is attached by one end to outlet-pipe a, and to the other end is attached the haring-nozzle pipe D. D is a iiaring-nozzle pipe, consisting of a pipe with a stop-cock and a flaring nose. In the mouth of this funnel-shaped nose is a concaved stop or distributer, b, that does not ll up the entire interior circumference of the nozzlepipe, leaving room between the periphery of the stop b and the interior of the pipe D for a fluid to pass. C is an ordinary stop-cock. E shows one end of a pipe-mold or flask in position to receive the blackwash.
The pipe-mold or flask is prepared in the usual way, and is placed perpendicular in position to be reached by tube B. The doublearing-nozzle pipe is placed over the end of the ask, as shown in Fig. 1,v the stop-cockturned to permit the uid blackwash to ow into the flaring nozzle, where it is met by the convex face of the distributer b, and passes in a flood over the inner surface of the iiask or pipe mold, coating the entire interior uniformly with the wash.
The advantages of my invention are, first, no hard substance that could mar or derange the sand is permitted to pass into or through the molds 5 second, by admitting and distributing the Wash from one end of the tube the mold is more evenly-coated.
Having now fully described my invention and the mode of using it, so that those skilled in the art may be able to fully understand and use it, what I esteem as my invention and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is-
