When the weighted levernioves downward in operation from the position shown in Figure 1 to that shown'in Figure3, the ratchet tooth 13 .is heldinto engagement with the ratchet portion6 and causes the main gear 5 to turn, but when said weighted lever is being raised in resetting the motor, as will be hereinafter explained, the ratchet tooth .13 is disengaged from said ratchet portion 6 of the main gear. i
As shown in Figure 2, the main gear 5 meshes with the gear 14 on a counter shaft 15 extending between the supports f and 4 and turning with another gear 16 which meshes with a gear 17 on another counter shaft 18. Said gear 17 turns with another gear19 which meshes with a gear 20 onthe horizontal shaft 21carrying a bevel pinion 22 in meshwith another bevel gear 23 on a vertical shaft-24} The bevel gear 23 turns with a gear 25 which meshes with a gear 26 on the spindle 27 which is journaled in the horizontal partition" 2 and carries the turntable 28. It will thus be seen'that therotation of the main gear 5 by 'the'downward movement of-the weighted arm or lever 9 will be transmitted}through the multiplying gear traintjust described to the turntable which: will be given a considerable number of revolutions during-the downward movementof said weightedarm.
"The' resetting of themotor is eflfected by a lever 29which is pivotally-mounted on the shaft 3 and has its upper end adapted to project. through a slot 30 in the top of the cabinet 1; Said lever carries a springpressed pawl 3l-which normally engages a segmental rack'or gear 32 "mounted to turn freely on the main shaft 3. This segmental gear has a'planeportion' 33 provided with a radially extending arm 3 1 arranged below: they'weighted arm or lever 9 and connected thereto by a link 35. 1 Because ofthe connections between the parts just described, it will be noted that as the weighted lever arm 9 moves downward the resetting lever 29 swings from left to right, as shown in The upper end portion 36 of the lever 29 is swiveled tothe main portionthereof, as at 37, Figures 1 and'3, and said upper end portion 36 carries a rock arm 38 connected to a push rod 39 guided in a bracket 40 on the main portion of th'e'lever and extendingto a point just above the free end of the pawl 31. Said pawl may be thus released fromthe segmental gear 32 byswinging said upper end portion 36 on the lever 29 to the right, as indicated in Figure 1.
The slot-30 in the topof the cabinet'may be closed by a cover plate 41 hinged at 42. The upper end portion 36 of'the "lever 29 carries a handle 43 pivoted thereto :at 4:4 just below the top of thec'asing :1. When raised, as shown in Figure 3,said handle 43 extends-through the slot 3Oin the top ofthe casing where it 1 may be grasped 'for'resetting the motor. When not in'use, however, said handle may befolded down'into the position indicated in Figure 1 where it lies below the lever of the top of the casing and may be covered by the hinged cover 41. The handle 43 is rule-j ointed to the-upper endportion 36 of the lever 29, so that said lever may be moved fromright to left for resetting the motor when said-handle israised' or extended i'ntoline with'said-lever. A' spring 45 is attached to the lever and adapted to bear against thehandle when raised for automatically folding or collapsing the latter when released. 0f course, when the'handle isigrasped'by the operator for-resetting the motor, the spring 45 is placed under sufii cient tension to-throwsaid handleover as soonasit-is released.
In; order 'to regulate the throw of the weighted arm 9 in resettingthe motor,so thatthe, swing of said-arm may be'a'ccommodated within casings orcabinets of :diffe'rent sizes, the arm34c and link 35 may either or both be made extensible. Said arm 34, for instance, may comprise telescopic sections 46 and 47, the latter having a socket toreceivethe formenanda bolt 48 may be passed-through a slot 4z9'in sa-id member47 for-adjustably securing the sec tions together. The link 35 -may be similarly formed of telescopic sections 5O "and-'51, the latter having a socket with slots 52 in its walls through which a bolt 53 extends for adjustably securing said sections together.
=In-order to varytthepower developed by thefalling ofthe weighted arm 9, the weight 11 is adjustably mounted on the outer end 'portion'of said arm so that it-mayflbe secured thereto at differentdistances from the fulcrum of said arm, that=is, the shaft 3. This adjustment'of the weight'of'thearm may be effected by providing longitudinally extending slots I54 in the forked free'end of said arm 9, and mounting the weight ll in said fork between said prongs withfa bolt 55 extending from opposite sides'of the weight through said slots, said bolt being fitted with suitable nuts by which it may be tightened for clamping said weight at any desired point along said arm.
To indicate the .position of the weighted arm'9 within the cabinet 1, a dial 56 is mounted on top of said cabinet above a slot 57 therein, and from the shaft 58 carrying the hand orindicator needle 59 and a swing-- ing arm 60 depends through the slot 57 into the interior of'the cabinet. The lower end of said swinging arm 60 is provided with an open loop 61 into which the rounded uppenend 62 of an intermediately pivoted lever '63 extends. *Said lever 63 is intermediately pivoted to the sides of the cabinet at 64 and its other end extends into juxtaposition to the segmental gear 32 of the motor resetting device. A segmental cam 65' is formed on 'the side of said segmental gear 32, andthe'extremity of the'lower end portion 66 ofthe lever 63 is bent, as at-67,

The combination with a member to be rotated, of a weighted arm for actuating the same, an indicator dial, a needle rotatably mounted on said dial, an arm depending from said needle and having an opened loop at its lower end, a lever having one end loosely fitted in said loop, and a cam on the rotatable member engaged by the other end of said lever, whereby movements of the weighted arm will be shown by responding movements of the needle on said indicator dial.
8. The combination with a motor to be rotated, of a weighted arm for actuating the same, a cabinet for enclosing said parts,
an indicator dial mounted on the outside of said cabinet, a pivoted needle mounted on said dial, an arm depending from said needle through a slot in the cabinet and having an open loop at its lower end, a lever having one end loosely fitted in said loop,
and a cam on said rotatable member of the motor engaged by the other end of said lever, whereby changes in movement of said weighted arm will be shown by corresponding changes in the position of the needle on said indicator dial.
