To all whom t my concern:
Be it known that I, IRVEN` zen of the United States, residing at Varsaw, in the county of Hancock, State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Truck and Wagon DumpingDeviceg and I do hereby declare the following to be a full,
clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The invention relates to truck and wagon hoisting and dumping devices, and has for' 4' and cables connected to the lower end of the auxiliary frame and extending upwardly around the drum and attached toa suspended weight, said weight forming la counterbalancefor the auxiliary frame, thereby rendering it possibleto raise the auxiliary frame with the minimum amount of power.
A further object is to provide worm and worm gear means for rotating the cable drum, thereby allowingthe device to be op'- erated by one person with the minimum amount of power.
A further object is to provide a platform which normally rests on the upper end of the main frame and is raised by the auxiliary frame when said auxiliary frame moves upwardly thereby allowing guard rails carried by the upper end of the auxiliary frame to move upwardly to positions above the platform and preventing a vehicle from rolling off the platform after .the vehicle has been' placed thereon.
With the above and other objects in` view the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings, described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention may be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Referring to the drawing the numeral 1 designates the main stationary rectangularV shaped frame of the hoisting device and 2 .vertically disposed angle bars, on which are .slidably mounted the vertically-disposed angle bars 3 of the movable auxiliary frame il. The upper ends of the angle bars 2 of the main frame are connected together by a horizontally disposed rectangular shaped frame 5, on which the movable top-` board 6 normally rests when the auxiliary frame 4 is in lowered position as shown in Figures 1 and 2. `The lower ends of the angularly shaped bars 2 are connected together by a rectangular shaped frame 7, which is adapted to rest on theV ground 'or in-a pit and form the base of the device during an upwardly and downward movement of the auxiliary frame 4. Opposite sides of the main frame 1 are preferably braced by vcross brace rods 8, thereby forming a rigid structure and properly trussing the device for supporting weight thereon, such for instance as an automobile or truck, which is being hoisted bodily or one of its ends hoisted for a dumping operation. The lower ends of the bars 3 of the auxiliary frame are connected together by the oppositely disposed bars 9 secured to their outer sides at 10, therefore it will be seen that a rigid structure is formed at the lower end of the auxiliary frame 4. The upper ends of the bars 3 of the auxiliary frame 4 are connected together at opposite sides of the frame by transversely disposed angle bars 11, which when the auxiliary frame 4 is moved upwardly come vinto engagement with thev Y board or platform 6 and raise the board with its load, for instance a truck thereon. However as the auxiliary frame 4 moved upwardly the bars 12 carried at opposite sides thereof moved upwardly before the platform is raised by the bars 11, consequently the bars 12 form guard rails for preventing the vehicle from rolling or moving olf the platform. If so desired one end of the vehicle may be placed on the platform 6, for instance the forward end of `a truck, and by raising `the auxiliary frame, the truck may be tilted to an angle for dumping a load ,from the body thereof,` therefore the device may be utilizedJ as a dumping apparatus.
Connected to the vertically disposed bars 2 of the main frame are horizontally disposed bars 13 in vbearings 14 of which the ends of av drum 15 are rotatably mounted. Extending around the drum 15 adjacent its ends are cables 16, one Aend of which cables 'is connected at 17 to oppositely rdisposed `bars at the lower end of the vauxiliary frame.
The other ends of the cables are connected at 18 to a weight box 19 which is vsuspended within the main frame and in which material 20 may be placed, such for instance as metal for counterbalancing the auxiliary frame whereby lit will easily move with the minimum amount of power. lt will be seen that when the drum is rotated in one direction that the auxiliary frame will be raised and in the other direction, lowered. However duringthe movement of the auxiliary lframe it is counterbalanced by the weight within they weight box 19. Secured to one of the ends of the drum 15 is a worm gear 21, with which a worm 22 engages, and it will be seen that when the shaft 23 which .carries the worm 22 is rotated, that the From the above it will be seen that a wagon hoisting and dumping device is provided, which is simple. in construction and comprises a main and auxiliary frame slidably connected, and the device is operated through cable and drum means actuated by worm and worm gear connections thereby allowing maximum power for manual operations without retrograde movement or rotation. It will also be seen that a counterweight is provided for reducing the amount of power necessary to operate the device to a minimum.

rThe combination with a hoisting and dumping device, said device comprising a main frame, an auxiliary frame slidaloly mounted on the main frame, of mechanism for raising and lowering the auxiliary frame, said mechanism comprising ahori- Zontally disposed drum rotatably mounted in hearings of the main frame adjacent the upper end thereof, cables extending around said drum, one of the ends of said cables extending' downwardly and outwardly through opposite sides of the main frame and anchored to the auxiliary frame adjacent its lower end, the other ends of said cables extending downwardly, a counter weight suspended from said last named ends of the cables in parallel relation to the drum and worm and worm gear means for rotating the drum.
