Be it known that I, FRED S. NELSON, a

citizen of the United States, residing at Chi-v be placed in a. plurality of positions.

A further object is to provide a card holderwhich may be detachably supported by a hinge. v

A still further object is to provide a reversible card holder supported by a hinge and readily detachable therefrom, whereby it may be readily reversed.

Another object is to provide a card holder preferably rectangular in form, which may be readily cal.

A further' object is to provide a card holder making easy the insertion and withdrawal of cards therefrom.

A further object is to providev a card holder which may be made of substantially o-ne piece o-f material yand which may be manufactured by simple stamping processes.

A still further object is to provide means for supporting a card holder in a rigid manner but so that the holder may be easily removed from its support.

Further objects will be in part apparent and in part pointed out during the progress of the description. l y

Referring now to the drawings, my card holder is designated generally by the nu- V meral l and may comprise a metal plate 2 of rectangular .form and having three of its four edges bent over to form the holding supported with either side verti-u means 3 for a card or the like. 4The fourth edge is not provided with thisfolded over portion but is provided with a channel shaped piece 4 hinged to the plate 2 as at 5, and embracing the edge. y

My card holder is designed particularly for use in the display of advertising matterY and is very useful infshop windows although by no means limited to that use. Card holders known to me have generally been open to various objections, one of which is that they are difficult to remove when washing windows, re-arranging window displays, or the like and to avoid this objection and others I provide av supporting means eX- emplified by a hinge comprising two leaves i 6 and 7.` The leaf 6 is adapted to be attached to a wall or a window frame and the leaf 7 is made preferably wedge-shaped and provided with an opening near its end which 1s adapted to be pivotally fastened to the plate 2 as by a bolt or screw 8. I y

Concentrically arranged in .respect to the fastening means 8 are a plurality of supports 9 which may be conveniently formed by stamping out a portion of the'plate 2. These supports project from the rear of the plate 2, as plainly shown in Fig. 2, and are so arranged as to receive the leaf 7 of the hinge and-to support the inclined edge of said leaf at the bottom of said support, as plainly shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 5. y

In use the leaf 6 of the hinge is fastened to any suitable support and the holder is then connected to the leaf 7 by the means 8. If it is desired to support the holder ,in the horizontal position .shown in Fig. 1, it is merely necessary to yslide thesupport 9 over the lower edge of the lhinge-leaf 7. The weight of theholder `will vthentend to rotate the holder about the means 8, thereby forcing the supportA 9 into firm engagement with the leaf 7 and providing an extremely v holder, turn it about kits horizontal axis through 180, replace the fastening means 8 and engage thejbottomtnedge'of the leaf 7 with the support 9.

If it is desired to change the holder so as to have the edge which is horizontal in Fig. 1 vertical, it is only necessary to, remove the support 9 from the hinge-leaf 7 by swinging about the fastening means -8 the above'description of use of ,my

I claim 1. A card holder having a plurality of supportsA thereon, each support adapted to engage a hinge, whereby saidv holder may besupported in a plurality of positions rela tiveto said hinge. V

' 2. In combination, a card holder, a hinge having one leaf pivotallyfconnected to said card holder, said card holder bein-g 'provided with a'support adapted tocontact with an edge of said hinge-leaf.

In combination, ka hinge, a card holder pivotally connectedy toa leaf' of saidhinge, said card holder being kprovided with afplurality of supports on oneside thereof, each of said supports adapted to engage an edgev of said hinge-leaf whereby said holder may be supported in a plurality ofpositi'ons.
