The sprockets 39 carry endless chains 40 forming part of the moving portion of the conveyer. The shaft 38 may be adjusted longitudinally of the brackets 41 supporting the shaft 38, in any suitable manner such as by mounting the shaft 88 in a suitable block 42 adjustable longitudinally of a slot 43 formed in the bracket 41, by means of a suitable screw 44 extending through the frame 41 and operative upon the block 42. The bell crank lever 35 is mounted upon the shaft 38 for oscillatory movement. A second bell crank lever 45 is mounted upon the shaft 38 for oscillation and carries a pawl 46 for engagement upon the ratchet wheel 37. The bell crank lever 45 is connected with eccentric 47 by means of a longitudinally adjustable link 48. The eccentric 47 is driven from the motor 82 by any suitable gearing mechanism, for example as shown at 49.
The conveyer 14 comprises the endless chains 40 carrying substantially U-shaped frames 50. The adjacent frames 50 are adapted to receive the printed sheets or plates from the conveyer 13 and to carry the sheets through the oven 15. Heat may be applied to the oven 15 in any suitable manner. It should be noted that at the receiving end of the conveyer 14, the endless chains extend about a sprocket 51 of a diameter such that the outer edges of the frames 50 are spaced at a considerable distance for the reception of the sheets from the conveyer 13. The chains pass from the sprockets 51 to suitable drums 52 that serve to position the chains between themselves and the sprockets 89 so that the frames 50 extend in substantial parallelism as they pass bet-ween the sprockets 39 and drums 52. As the frames pass about the sprocket 39 they discharge the sheets under the influence of gravity.
By reference to Figs. 5 and 6 it will be apparent that at the close of day, an operator would actuate the lever 24 after the last of the sheets have passed through the press 7, thereby disconnecting the press from the motor by means of the clutch 27 and rendering the press quiescent simultaneously and closing the circuit embracing'the auxiliary motor 32 whereupon the auxiliary motor would actuate the conveyer and thereby feed the prints or sheets through the oven. After the motor 32 has been embraced in a complete circuit by the engagement of the contacts 28 and 29 the operator would open the circuit through the motorS. After the last of the sheets have passed through the oven the operator would open the circuit through the motor 82 by means of switch 30. On the following morning the operator would actuate the lever 24 so as to render the motor 8 operative upon the press, thereby disupon the press, the auxiliary ,motor 32 would be again brought into action.
What I claim is:
1. The combination of a press, a conveyer, means for driving the conveyer from the press an auxiliary means for actuating the conveyer upon the press being rendered inoperative and means for simultaneously rendering the press inoperative and the auxiliary means operative.
2. In a deviceof the class described the combination of a press, an oven, a conveyer for receiving work from the press and for carrying the work through the oven, means for driving the press, means actuated from the press driving means for actuating the conveyer, an auxiliary means for actuating the conveyor normally inoperative upon the conveyer and means for rendering the press actuating means inop- I erative and for rendering the auxiliary means operative upon the conveyer.
3. In a device of the class described the combination of a press, driving means for the press, a conveyer for receiving work from the press, means driven from the press for actuating the conveyer, a normally in operative auxiliary means for actuating the conveyer and means for simultaneously rendering the driving means inoperative upon the press and rendering the auxiliary means operative upon the conveyer.
4. In a device of the class described the combination of a press, driving means for the press, a conveyer for receiving work from the press, means driven from the press for actuating the conveyer, a normally inoperative auxiliary means for actuating the conveyer, means for rendering the driving means inoperative upon the press and rendering the auxiliary means operative upon the conveyer, and means for rendering the auxiliary means inoperative upon the conveyer independent of the means controlling transmission of power from the press driving means to the press.
5. The combination with a press and driving means therefor, of a conveyer for receiving sheets from the press and comprising endless chains and sheet-supporting means carried by the chains, sprockets and shafts for the chains, a driven shaft operative from the press, an eccentric 011 the driven shaft, a ratchet operative on one of the shafts for thechains, a connection between the eccentric and the ratchet for transmitting motion from the driven shaftto the shaft associated with the ratchet, an electric motor, a shaft driven by the motor, an eccentric mounted on the motordriven shaft, a second ratchet on the shaft carrying the first ratchet, a connection between the second-mentioned eccentric and ratchet, an electrical contact, a lever for rendering the driven shaft inoperative and carrying a contact for engagement with the first-mentioned the lever for rendering the driven shaft inoperative, and an electrical circuit embracing the contacts and the motor.
