In the form ofthe invention shown there are two guides for the adjustable plate ot the radiator, one of said guides being supnr ported vertically 4near each side of the radiator. Each guide, as shown, comprises a section" or plate ot metal bent or folded to proyidea relatively wide portion l designed andadapted to rest against the front of the radiator, and an inwardlyextended portion 2 spaced from the4 portion lfuand providing a vertical'cliannel'in which tlie movable plate of' the radiator cover operates. Theradiator cover shown comprises a lower stationary plate 5 having its ends extending between the guides and the radiator and secured in position by the bolts 4 passing through-the guides and the radiator, as stated. Preferably the plate 5'is made of a size to cover less-than halt of the front of the radiator, thus-adapting the device for use in warm weather as well as cold, since relatively a large portion of the working,` area of the radiator' may, be exposed by adjustingthe lmovable `plate in its lower ad justinent in front' oftheplate 5". The movable plate 6 is made o-tsufficient Vwidth' to cover the entire working area ot the radiator above the stationary `plate 5, with the lower edge of the plate @extending downwardly in front of' the upper edge' ot the plate 5 in overlapping arrangement. The lower edge of the plate @may be formed with a notch 'l' of sufficient size to receive the crank 8 and the connection therefor, while the upper portion of the plate 5 may be provided with an upwardly extended portion 9 of suiiicient size to close the space or notch 7 when the lower movable plate is raised.
-Either or both of the plates may have advertising or other matter displayed thereon, all of which may be rendered visible at all times by a lamp 10 supported above the radiator eore and provided with a reflector 11 which properly contines and directs the light for best results. The light also renders visible a scale 12 on one of the guides which indicates proper adjusted positions of thel movable plate of the radiator cover for different temperatures, varying from the proper adjusted position thereof in relatively warm weather to the proper adjusted position thereof in very cold weather.
If desired, a water cap may be provided above the radiator core in the form of a downwardly and forwardly inclined plate 13 to prevent wat r from entering the openings in the radiator.
To afford means for adjusting the upper plate of the radiator cover from the seat-ing portion of the automobile, a flexible connection 11i from the plate 6 passes over thel radiator and into the seating portion of the automobile, where it is designed and adapted for engagment with a part 15 to support the plate G in different adjustments. For this purpose the connection 14 is provided with holes 15 designated by scale characters 17 conforming to the scale 12. By this means the occupant of the automobile is enabled to adjust the plate 6 of the radiator cover from within the vehicle and without the necessity of alighting. Instead of using the connection 14, extending to the seating portion of the automobile, a connection somewhat along the lines shown in Figs. l and 2 may be used, if desired. As there shown a flexible connection 1S from the plate 6 may be releasably engaged with a bracket 19 connected with the water inlet of the automobile and which may also serve as a support for the lamp 10 and its reflector 11.
If desired an additional plate 2O may be utilized to protect the rear or inner side of the radiator to the height of. the plate 5. As shown (Fig. 2) the bolts 4t, which secure the lower portions of the guides and which hold the lower plate 5 in position, also pass through and retain the plate 20.
From the foregoing the utility and advantages of the invention are apparent, although it will be understood that the specific construction and arrangement thereof may be varied within equivalent limits and within the scope of the appended claims without departure from the nature and principle of the invention. l do not restrict myself un- Larrea@c essentially, but what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is :-v

A radiator cover, comprising a vertical guide channel near cach side of the radiator, removable elements passing through the radiator for supporting said guide channels in position, a lower stationary cover plate having its ends between the guide channels and the radiator and retained in place thereby, a movable cover plate operative within the guide channels in front of the lower plate and movable to positions to cover and to expose different port-ions of the working area ofthe radiator above the stationary plate, and means for supporting the movable plate in its different adjusted positions.
2. Av radiator cover, comprising a pair of vertical guide channels, means for securing the guide channels in front of the radiator, a lower stationary cover plate having its ends between said guide channels and the radiator, an upwardly extended portion in connection with said stationary plate approximately midway between said guide channels, a movable cover plate operative within -said guide channels in front of the lower stationary plate and having a notch in its lower edge for the purpose mentioned and of a size to be closed by said upwardly extended portion of the stationary plate when the movable plate is in its upper adjustment, and means yfor supporting the movable plate in its various selected adjustments in said guide channels.
3. A radiator cover comprising a pair of separate and disconnected guide channels, separate and independent supporting elements for supporting the guide channels in connection with the radiator, a stationary plate covering the lower portion of the front of the radiator, a movable plate plate operative within said guide channels for covering selected areas of the upper portion of the radiator above the stationary plate and having a notch in its lower edgereceiving a vehicle member when said movable plate is in its lower adjustment, means for supporting` the movable plate in its ydifferent adjusted positions, and means in connection with said first plate closing said notch when said movable plate is in its upper adjust-ments.
