To all 'whom it may concern:

Bev it known that ERNEST Komaan, citizen of the United States, residing at Alameda, in the county of Alameda and State of California, has invented certain new and useful Improvements in Games; and he does hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description o'f the invention` such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make' and use the same'.

- rIhis invention relates to improvements in gaines. and more particularly to a construction of game board which will be so arranged that the person or persons using the same will attempt to project one or more balls into lany one of a plurality of partitioned pockets, either by hand or by using a cue.

y An object of the invention is to provide a suitable `-game board which will have a flat substantially horizontal surface, having positioned thereon la plurality of partitioned pockets and rebound blocks or batlles which lwill be so positioned to aid the person or A persons playing the game in projecting one or more balls into the said partitioned pockets.

Another object of the invention is to provide a game and gamel board therefor, said game board being held or supported slightly on the incline and provided with a plurality of partitioned pockets and batlies or rebound blocks, which will be so positioned that it will require skill of the person or persons playing the game to project oneor more balls froma definite starting point into the said partitioned pockets.

A further object' of the invention is to provide a substantially horizontal game board positioned thereon applurality of partitioned' pockets and onefor more battles or rebound blocks adjacent said pockets whereby one skilled in the game may project a ball or balls, either by hand or by using a cue in such a manner that the said balls will either enter directly into the said pockets-or first engage "with a rebound block and then be directed intol one of the pockets.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a suitable game and game board therefor, which will be highly eicient as an amusement device and quiteinexpensive to manufacture.

Like characters of reference are used throughout the following specification and the accompanying drawings to designate corresponding parts.

The game board has a substantially flat surface 1,' which has one of its ends formed square as at 2 and at its opposite end curved or rounded as at 3. An upstanding rim or shoulder 4 is positioned about the entire outer edge of the board 1.

A supporting leg or brace 5 is hinged as at 6 to the underneath surface of the board 1 and is adapted to hold the said board in a slightly inclined position with its end 3 elevated above the end 2.

A plurality of pockets 7 are formed on the upper surfacev 1 of the board, being provided with a. plurality of parallel aligned spacedpointed partitions 8 and aftixing said partitions to Isaid board.

A rack 9 is hin-ged at 10 to one side of the board and is positioned at the inner end of the partitions 8, and is provided with a plurality of numbered spaces 11 corresponding to the numbers of the pockets 7. A finger opening 12 is formed adjacent the outer endv of the rack 9 in such a manner that a finger may be inserted therein and the rack lifted away from Athe surface of the board. A stoppin 13 is positioned at the outer end of the rack 1 in such a manner that the said rack will abut against it to aid in reinforcing the same. A starting line 14 is drawn part Way across the surface 1 of the board. A plurality of depressions 15 having numbers 16 are formed immediately to the rear of the line 14 and are adapted to receive a plurality of numbered balls 17.

A- plurality of dividing lines 18 are formed on the lower` end of the surface "l of theboard and provided with aplurality j of numbered spaces 19.

A foul line 20 is drawn on the right hand side of the surface 1 of the board to a point adjacent the partitions 8.

A depression 21\ is formed midway between the upper or outer end of the board and the partitions 8 and is adapted to receive a colored ball 22. y

A rebound block 23 is detachably posithe rim 4 and the hinge 10` so that the balls 17 will not hinder the operation of said hinge. l

A groove 28 is formed parallel with the lower end of the surface 1 of the board and is adapted to receive the balls 17 when the same are to be manually projected by means of the hand.

The numbered spaces 19 indicate the several positions from which balls 17 will be projected by hand. The balls will be projected upwardly towards the upper and outer end of the board in such a' manner that they Will first hit the curved surface or rim and if the player is experienced he may hitl one of the rebound blocks 9.3 and 25 and then have the ball curve back into one ofthe pockets 7. On the other hand the ball may possibly impinge against the curved block 26. In this event a score of 2() will be counted for the person making the play. If one of the balls is projected and knocks the colored ball 22 from the depression 21, so that the ball 22 will drop into one of the pockets 7, the score counted will be double the value of the pocket into which the ball is projected. If a ball is Aprojected from the starting line and ends up to the left of the pockets behind the curved block 26 the score or count will be zero.

A cue 29 will be used to pro-ject the balls 17 When the same are started from the dcpressions 15.-

A double value will be given if, for example, the 5 ball gets into the 5 pocket.

From lthe foregoing description it will be apparent that I have provided a. highl)Y amusing and scientific game board of the longitudinal projection surface type.

Many minor changes in detail ot'construction may be resorted to without (leparture from the spirit of the invention.

Having thus described my invention what I claim, as new and desiie to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:

1. A game board provided with a flat surface, a plurality of adjoining pockets on said board, a plurality of starting positions at the opposite end of said board, balls adapted to seat in said positions, means for projecting saidballs along the upper surface of said board` and a removablel closure for one end of said pockets.

2. A game board provided with a. flat surface, a plurality of starting positions at the opposite end of said board, balls adapted to seat in said positions, means for projecting said balls along the upper surface of said board, and a hinged closure for one end of said pockets.
