APPARATUS FOR TAKING THE COLOR-COMPONEN T NEGATIVES FOR MULTICOLOR PHOTOGRAPHY.
Application filed February 25, 1922. Serial No. 539,163.
To all whom it may concem: In the annexed drawing a mode of execu- Be it known that I, Josnr Mnoz, mechanition of the apparatus according to my incal engineer, a citizen of the Republic of vention is represented, Fig. 1, being a Poland, residingatVienna,in Lower Austria front elevation and Fig. 2 a side elevation.

'With this metho t e colortor 8 tends to rotate it upwards. Theupscreens or light-filters corresponding to the ward rotation of the toothed sectoris limcolor-component negatives are automatically ited by a pin 11 engaging in a concentrically and periodically brought to the place of exarranged slot 12 in the toothed sector. The 70 posure in accordance with the rate of the end of the spring 10 is connected to a disc intermittent movement or advance of the 13 by the rotation of which the initial tenfihn. The film aswell as the color-screens sion of the spring may be varied and adare generally driven by means of a crank justed. The toothed sector 8 may be rotated operated by h d. downwards by means of a button 14 fixed 75 According to my invention I intend to to the axis 9 of the sector, which button is use t is known principle for ordinary multioutside the casing of the, apparatus and color photography, i. e. not for cinematogthereby the tension of the spring 10 is inraphy. Therefore it is sufficient the film is only moved for the required three to free the clickof the drivin mechanism colorcomponent sections in case of a threekept under tension, in order toTi P ave it autocolor photograph. The toothed Wheel l matically run to such a degree so that only loosely mounted on the shaft 6 1s connected exactly the desired number of component with one part 20'of a coupling device, the viewsmay be produced on the film. The first part 20 of the couon a bolt engages the pling device is provided with a grooved disc 22; part 20, toothed wheel 7 and grooved disc 22 are united to form a single piece which is pressed against the second part 21 of the coupling by means of a spiral spring 23. An oblique member 2a mounted grooved disc 22; this bolt may be rotated by means of the button 25 in such a manner that this member 24 thereby withdraws the coupling part 20 from the coupling part 21 against the action of the spring 23. The teeth of the coupling are so directed that when the coupling is engaged, the movement of the toothed sector 8 in one direction is transmitted to, the shaft 6 whereas with the back rotation of the toothed sector 8 by means of the button 14, the shaft 6 is not moved.
Outside the casing the shaft carries a hand-crank 26 adapted to directly drive the shaft 6 if time-exposures have to be made.
In order to avoid that the toothed sector makes the rotation, which in the case of actuating the driving by means of a handcrank is superfluous, the coupling device 20, 21 may be disengaged by a short rotation of the button 25 so that the toothed wheel 7 is not obliged to rotate with the axis 6, when this latter is driven by the crank 26. In order to prevent an opposite rotation of the crank the shaft 6 carries a ratchet-wheel 27, in the teeth of which a pawl engages.
The shaft 6 is further provided with a bevel gear 28, which by means of the bevel gear 29 drivesthe shaft 30, which by means of a worm gear 31, 32 rotates the disc 33 having three diaphragm openings 33"; simultaneously they contain also the color screens. These three (red, green, blue) screens advance to the lace of exposure according to the intermittent progression or advance of the film.
The combination of thesingle featuresas described constitute a simple, photographic apparatus for hotochromatic or multicolor photograp y, for the actuating of which for instantaneous photographs, it is sufficient to predetermine the duration of the instantaneous exposure by means of the button displacing the disc 13 and varying thereby the initial tension of the spring 10,-to rotate the knob 14 for effecting a tension of the automatic driving mechanism-and to press the knob 19 inwardly for disengaging the click-of the driving mechanism, whereupon the driving mechanism automatically runs down and in consequence of its limitation imparts to the film only three successive movements in advance. Simultaneously the three color-screens are automatically and in succession brought before the'place of exposure. In case of timeexposures having to be made by means of the crank, the coupling device 20, 21 is first disengaged by rotating the button 25.
In accordance with the patent statutes, I have shown and described ,*the preferred form of this invention: but I desire it to be distinctly understood that I fully realize that changes may be made in the structure herein disclosed and that I intend to include within the scope of the claims that follow hereinafter all'modifications of the preferred form of this invention that do not depart substantially from the spirit thereof.
