HANGER. BASKET AND BRACKET.
Application filed August 1, 1921. Serial N0.488,981.
nection with HUtOlIlObilQS, motor trucks, ar-
ticlcsfot furniture and thelike, which will be cheap, simple and highly efiicient, which can readily be placed into form for use and quickly put-outof "the way when not used.
The various features of the invention and its advantages will readily become apparent from the following specification.
1n the accomoan m drawm formin a p a I 1: part of this specification.
Fig. i, is a perspective view of my device or invention, in open or extended position. Fig. 9. is a side view of the device with certain parts shown in various positions to bars 1., 2 and 3,thebar 1 usually being made stronger and heavier than the other two bars. Each 01. these bars has at each end an extension or arm, said arms being marked l and and these arms and the bars are usually made integral. The bar 1 has attached thereto at the top of the extensions 4t and 5 a retaining bracket 6, which is rigidly attached to any article in connection with which the device is to be used, by screws passing through the holes 7, 7, in said bracket.
The extensions t and 5 of the bars are pivotally connected together by the pins 8. To the bar 2, I pivotally attach, bythe pin 9, one end of an angularly shaped arm 10, which swings on the said pin 9, and at its other end 19 is bifurcated to engage with bar 1. T o the central bar 1, I pivotally connect by pins 13, four arms 14, two of which may be swung over onto the top of the arm 1 and the other two underneath said arm. Each ot these tour arms is prov ded with a locking recess 15 at its e:-;tremi.ty. To each otthe side bars 52, 3, I attach two arms 16 by pivot pins 17. Each arm 16 has a locking recess 18. These arms 16 may be moved into alignment withthe bars 2 and 3, as shown in Fig. The arms 11 and 16, when they are extended to meet each other, can be locked together by means of the locking recesses 15 and 18.
lVhen the device is in a knock-down term it, appears as shown in Fig. 5, and through the brackets hit is held up against any ob ject to which it is desired to attach the same. \Vhen the device is to be opened, the bars 1, 2 and 3 are swung into the position shown ,in. Fig. 1; then the angular arm is swung down and its biturcated end 12 is made to engage with the central bar 1; then the side arms 16 andbottom arms 1 t are swung until they meet; and finally thelocking reccsses and 18 are engaged. It can now be used for holding any article it is desired to place therein; it it can be reached from the top, articles can be placed therein from above, not, it can be tilled through that side which does not have the angular arm 10; or it an be tilled through any of the spaces between the arms. It will be seen that the arms 14.- can be swung into a. position asshowu in Fig. t if desired, (see Fig. 4), and that the arms 16 can be moved as shown in Fig. 2 to assist in locl iing or holding the contents of the basket. illhen it is desired tolmock-down the device, the parts are swung again in position shown in Fig. 5, in which position the device occupies very little space and is out of the way.
I may form the device from that. strips of metal, or of wire, or other material. lhe arms and other parts may be of any form or shape, and pivoted together in any man ner. If it is desired to remove the device or to attach it to some other place, allthat is necessary is to remove the screws from the brackets 6. v
I do not wish to limit myseli to the speciiic construction herein shown, but may modify the same to some extent, but still fall within the scope of my invention.
lVhat I claim as new and my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A basket including central and side longitlnlinallv cxtendin U-shaned memrs A S bers, each member consisting of a bar provided with end extensions, a, pivot pin con necting all of the end extensions at one end of the basket together and another pivot pin connecting all of the end extensions at the other end of the basket together, supporting arms pivotally connected to said bars and provided with latching elements, the latching element of each supporting arm being adapted to engage the latching element of a complementary supporting arm to form transversely extending U-shaped parts to hold said U-shaped members in spaced position.
2. A basket as claimed in claim 1 including support-ing brackets located at the ends of the basket where said extensions are pivotally connected together.
A basket as claimed in claim 1 including an angular arm pivotally connected to one of the substantially U-shaped side members and adapted to interlock with the central one of said substantially U-shaped members.
4. A basket including a plurality of sub stantially U-shaped members, pivots connecting the ends of said :U-shaped members together, each of said 'U-shaped members consisting of a bar provided with end extensions, supporting arms pivotally connected to each of the bars of the substantially U-shaped members near the ends of the latter, each of said supporting arms being provided near its free end with a latchingelement and the latching element of each supporting arm being adapted to interlock with the latching element of a complementary supporting arm for holding the substantially U-shaped members in spaced positions, and an angular arm pivotally connected to the bar of one of the substai'itially U-shaped members and provided with a latching element adapted to interlock with the bar of another one of said substai'itially U-shaped members.
In testimony whereof, I ZlfllX my signature at Cincinnati, Ohio, this 16th day of July, 1921.
SIGMUND LISKOW.
