IMPROVEMENT IN NECK-VOKES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 153,638, dated-July 28, 1874; application filed April 11, 1874.
To all whom it may concern V Be it known that I, MINOR S. TROWBRIDGE, of Platteville, Grant county, WVisconsin, have invented a new and Improved Neck Yoke, of which the following is a specification:
The invention consists of the sliding breaststrap connections to the neck-yoke for extending or shortening the connection of the horses to allow them a certain limit of lateral play to accommodate them to some extent to a choice of the roadway, coupled to an equalizing rockin g plate or lever at the middle of the yoke, so as to cause the connections to shift alike, and thus always balance, so that one horse will not have an undue advantage of the other in respect of the leverage of the yoke.
The drawing is a front elevation of a neckyoke, breaststraps, and pole-straps contrived according to my invention.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is the neck-yoke; B, the breast-straps;
G, the pole-straps, and D the connections by which said straps are attached to the neckyoke. These connections are fitted to the pole to slide forward and back along the part E to allow the horses a certain amount offreedom for side or lateral motion; and in order to equalize their action and cause them to move alike, I propose to couple said connections by rods F, with a rock or balance lever, G, at the middle of the neck-yoke to control the said connections so that the horses will be caused to move toward or from each other alike.
Having thus described my invention, 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The combination, with the neck-yoke A, having end-headed pin E at each end, of the pieces D D, adjustable thereon, as and for the purpose specified.
