Description

-;c. A; MOORMAN 'ANATOMICAL DISPLAY CASE Fild 066.. 15, 1924 INVENTOR C. A Moo/m4 1v BY mu/rm 3% ATTORNEYS Patented May 5, 1925.
CHARLES AARON M'OORMAN, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
ANATOIMIOAL DISPLAY CASE.
Application filed. December 15, 1924. Serial No. 756,165
To all to 710m it may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES Aanon Moon- MAN, a cltizen of the Unlted States, and a resident of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement 1n Anatomical Display Cases, of which the following is a full,
clear, and exact description. 1
My inventlon relates to lmprovements. in anatomical dlsplay cases, and it consists in the combinations, constructions, and arrange ments herein described and claimed.
An object-of my invention is to provide a display casewhich is intended for use by salesmen and the like for visibly acquainting the stockman with the pertinence of various hogremedies and foods.
. A further object of my invention is to provide a display case having the shape of a hog and constructed with two principal parts hingedly mounted to one another which maybe moved apart so as to display the internal anatomical portions of the hog.
A further obj ect of my invention is to provide a display case inwhich compartments are provided in certain portions of the interior of the case for containing hog remedies,
foods and the like, and in which these compartments are disposed adjacent to the portions of the hog affected by the feeding of such remedies and foods.
A further object of my invention is to provide a display case in which the compartments forcontain-ing the remedies, foods, and the like are provided with transparent covers so that the observer may see the physical appearance of the remedies and foods andthus become acquainted with their appearance.
A further object of provide a display case in which the means for hingedly mounting the two portions of j the case also servi-istoprovide a handle by means of which the entire ,case' may be carried.
Other objects and advantages will" appear in the following specification, and the novel features of the invention will be particularly pointed in the appended claims.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings forming part of this application, in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of an embodiment of my invention, and
my invention is to Figure 2 is a view of the display case shown in Figure l in open operative position.
In carrying out my invention I make use of a pair of cooperating molded metal parts 1 and 2 which, when placed in registration with one another, have the external appearance of a hog. These parts are hingedly mounted to one another by the provision of a handle member 3 having axially ali ned portions 1- which are projected through lugs 5 and 6 provided on the parts 1 and 2, respectively, and having aligned openings therethrough to receive the portions 4 and the handle The parts 1 and 2 are locked into engage ment with one another at the bottom by the provision of a threaded bolt 7 extending downwardly from the part 2 and having a thumb nut S thereupon and a slotted plate 9 which is arrangedto partially encompass the bolt 7 when the parts 1 and 2 are in the po-- sitionshown in Figure 1. Thus the thumb nut' 8 may be turned to secure the parts against unintentional movement away from one another as in carrying.
-Means for assuring proper registration of the parts 1 and 2 is provided in recesses 10 and registering lips 11 on the part 2 (see Figure 2).
The interior of the part 2 illustrate inbas-relief all the principal bones of the skeleton of the hog, as shown at 12, so that an observer may see instantly the fleshy portions of the hog.
our containers 13, 14, 15, and 16 are formed in the part 2, and each are provided with a transparent cover through which the contents of the chambers is visible. The container 13 is filled with an assortment of minerals which are beneficial to the entire body of the hog. r
The container 14 is disposed just to the back oftheribs and is filled with a laxative which has substantially the same appearance as the minerals in the container 13. j
The container 15 is filled with a darker colored compound which is seen through the transparent cover and which is for the purpose of preventing the accumulation of intestinal worms.
The container .16 is filled with a compositiorlil which is for the purpose of producing fies is designed to ration is a mixture containing the ingredients shown in the containers, 13, 14, 15, and 16, and is a general stabilizer and tonic which tends to increase the growth of the animal in size and weight and also to aid in the prevention of disease.
From the foregoingdescription of the various parts of the device, the operation thereof may be readily understood. In em ploying my improved anatomical display case, the salesman or person using the case will first place the case in an upright position, as shown in Figure 1, before the stoclnnan. The case is an exact replica of a healthy, properly fed hog, and comparisons may be made with the stock at hand, whereupon the presence of the case sugto the stockman that certain elements in the flesh or general health of his stock is at fault.
Having thus properly introduced the topic of hog remedies, and foods, the case opened to the position shown in Figure by unfastening the thumbnut 8.
When in this position, the salesman may definitely inform the stockman as to the various remedies and foods necessary for the good health of his stock. It will be noted that the containers having the ingredients are placed in positions pertinent to the contents thereof. This presentation, visually, of the various organs of the hog and the associate remedies and foods permits the stockman to instanly realize what may be lacking in his own stock and what remedies it is necessary to employ to properly build up unhealthy or lean stock.
When the salesman has finished his interview, the case is closed, as in Figure 1, and it may be readly carried about from place to place, and, since constructed of metal, preferably aluminum there is little possibility of damage to the case, and it may be carried with ease because of its lightness.
I claim:
1. An anatomical display case of the character described comprising a pair of hingedly connected cooperating members having the outward appearance, when in registration with one another, of one of a species of domestic stock, one of said cooperating members having its interior walls formed to designate the internal physiological members of the species, and being further provided with compartments, each of said compartments having a transparent cover and being filled with ingredients beneficial to that portion of the animal in the vicinity of the container.
2. An anatomical display case of the character described comprising a pair of hingedly connected cooperating members having the outward appearance, when in registration with one another, of one of a species of domestic stock, one of said cooperating members having its interior walls formed to designate the skeleton of the species, and being further provided with compartments, each of said compartments having a transparent cover and being filled with ingredients beneficial to that portion of the animal in the vicinity of the container.
3. An anatomical display case of the character described comprising a pair of hingedly connected cooperating members having the outward appearance, when in registration with one another, of one of a species of domestic stock, one of said cooperating members having its interior walls formed to designate the skeleton of the species, and being further provided with compartments, each of said compartments having a transparent cover and being filled with ingredients beneficial to that portion of the animal in the vicinity of the container, and a relatively large container having a transparent cover formed 011 the remaining cooperating part of the case, said container being filled with a one-day ration of food beneficial to the animal.
4. An anatomical display case of the character described comprising a pair of cooperating parts hingedly mounted to one another by the provision of a bent rigid rod fashioned to serve as a handle for carrying the case, said cooperating parts having the outward appearance, when in registration with one another, of one of a species of domestic stock, one of said members being fashioned with its inner wall to represent a has-relief of certain physiological members of the specie represented by the exterior contour of the case, and containers having transparent covers formed on said cooperating parts in predetermined positions relative to the physiological members, said container being filled with ingredients pertaining and beneficial to the region of the animal where the containers are disposed.
