PATENT OFFICE- ALBERT KVAAL, 0F CIIB-ISTIANIA, NORWAY.
CONNECTION PIECE FOR CABLE HEADS.
Application filed December 13, 1924.. Serial No. 755,757.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT KVAAL, a subject of the King of Norway, residing at Universitetsgaten 11, Christiania, Norway, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Connection Pieces for Cable Heads; and I do hereby declare the following to be afnll, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilledin the art to which it appcrtains to make and use the same, ref-- crence being had to theaccoinpanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which forina part of this specification.
This inventionaifords a connecting means for wires and the like, enabling the ready quick and secure electrical connection between .two wires.
At the points where telephone and telegraph cables are divided into single wires the several wires of a cable are. soldered to connection pieces to which connection pieces theseveral wires are again connected. This invention provides an improved connecting Fig. 1 is a longitudinal part sectional view of a connection piece positionedin an insulating block, and i Fig. 2 is an elevation of the connecting element, parts being shown in section.
In the form illustrated the strip-like connection piece 1 is mounted in a narrow of elongated rectangular cross section formed in an insulating block 2 and is fastened therein against upward withdrawal by having its lower end twisted about its axis as illustrated in Fig. 1. The aperture 3 terminates on the front side of the insulating block 2 in an enlarged rectangular recess 4 which receives a fastening device for a single wire. This fastening device comprises a nut 5 which is fitted between portions 6 and 6 which portions engage the nut on all of its four sides. The
nut has a threaded aperture 8 which corresponds with an aperture 7 in one of the bent members 6 of the strip 1, when the nut is in position in the strip. A clamping screw 9 for the single wire 10 is introduced intothe nut through the aperture 7 in the the nut when mounted in the clamp has its vertical axis 111 l1ne wlth the axis of the connection strip 1.
'Having described one operative embodiment of the invention, I now claim:
1. A connection piece for cable heads, comprising, a metallic strip, one end of the strip having receiving means integral therewith to receive a clamping screw and nut for a continuation wire, said receiving means including, two spaced parallel portions of the strip running parallel to the axis of the strip, and two spaced parallel 1 portions of the strip running at right angles to the axis of the strip, and a receiving aperture for the clamping screw.
2. A connection piece for cable heads, comprising, a metallic strip, one end of the strip having receiving means integral therewith to receive a clamping screw and nut for a continuation wire, said receiving means including, two spaced parallel portions of the strip running parallel to the axis of the strip, and two spaced parallel portions of the strip running at right angles to the axis of the strip, and a receiving aperture for the clamping screw in line with the axis of the strip.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention, I have signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ALBERT KVAAL. lVitnesses Jane M. Lnnn, MacNUs Bnecn.
