ToaZZwhom iflmay oomem": I 1
Be it known that I, JOHN Jr Anni'son, a":- citizen of the-1 United Statesfresidin g at Smethport, in the coimty of McKeamand Stlate" 02f Pennsylvania-, have invented new and usefiil Improvements in 1 Gon'duit Ma-k ing-Machines, of which the following-is specification; 1 m
The invention is designed to improve the 1 action of l conduit making inachin'es sothat the trimming of the end of the con'dnitniay' be accomp l ished coincidentally with the forming ofthe material: In cari'ying out the inventionth'e' material 'isextru'ded in th'e usu al manner-and as it is extriide'dthe inner edge of the en'd is"bevelledin the-"usual man ner 01f condnits sothat when' a' len' th snfii cient for a length ofmondtiit een ex trud'ed i it may beswefed and-the end so trimmed will be complete: I

This holds the guide "rollen =32 "against the track 33 and in consequence the bar renews? theco'ntour' of the track and tl1G C0'Ii tO1lfi0f the track I hasthe contour of the end of the tube-"as it is eiti uded from tlie'-die's. C011 seq'uentl y-* the cutter 23 follows the 'oontoiir of *the end of the tube and 'triins="'the tiibeZ' 10 Ordinarily the conduit is aboutthe form"? shown; nearly rectangiilar in shape; with-*- aslightly rounded" corner a'nd' the-" gttide as" sho'vvri' lias this form, thecntter following this fol-In and trimming; the 'tubeiv I" prefer to aocoiii'plish the"*tri'1n-1ning 'as" the platttoi'm advances so that at the com pletion of the movement of the platform the trimming is also completed. Each head is carried by a shaft 42. The shaft 42 is mounted in a bearing 43. The bearing 43 is arranged in a post 44 on the head 19. A gear 45 is fixed on the shaft 42 and meshes with a gear 46. It will be understood that each of the gears L5 mesh with a single gear 46 which is at the center of-the platform. The gear 46 is mounted on a shaft 47. The shaft 47 is carried in bearings 48 and 4-9. A beveled gear 50 is secured to the gear 46. The beveled gear 50 meshes with a beveled gear 51. The gear 51 is fixed on a shaft 52. The shaft 52 is journaled in bearings 53 on the head 19. A spool 54: is fixed on the shaft 52. A cable 55 is wound around the spool and secured at one end to the head 9 and is provided with a weight 56 at its opposite end.
It will readily be seen that as the platform .17 .is raised and lowered the cable will wind on and off the spool 54, thus rotating it-so that with the platform in its upper posi'tion and the material A extruded from the dies on the platform immediately the platform is pressed downwardly by the material as it is extruded the trimmers rotate preferably making two rotations in the downward movement so as to completely trim the end of the tube with the bevel 'or shape desired.
Upon the completion of the downward movement the tube is severed in the usual manner by a cutter (not shown).
What I claim as new is 1. In a conduit making machine, the combination of a mud chamber; a die through which the material is extruded in tubular form; a yielding platform receiving the formed material as extruded; and means trimming the end of the formed tube resting on the platform.
