- My invention has for its object the rolling of land, making it smooth and compact, and is accomplished by rollers hung in aframe, one roller set in advance of the other, and placed so that their inner ends will lap a little, and thus make a smooth surface, and in turning round one roller will double up onto the tongue when turning one way. or if turned the other way one roller will roll forward and the other back, the same as a pair of wheels.

IMPROVEMENT IN LAND-ROLLERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 153,452, dated July 28,1874; application filed March 6, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RICHARD MILLER, of Ellington, county of Outagamie, in the State of Wisconsin, have invented certain Improvements in Land-Rollers, of which the following is a specification:
My invention has for its object the rolling of land, making it smooth and compact, and is accomplished by rollers hung in aframe, one roller set in advance of the other, and placed so that their inner ends will lap a little, and thus make a smooth surface, and in turning round one roller will double up onto the tongue when turning one way. or if turned the other way one roller will roll forward and the other back, the same as a pair of wheels.

A is the rear frame; B, the front frame; 0, the rear roller; D, the front roller; E, the tongue; F, a chain, of which one end is fastened to the rear roller-frame and the other end to the tongue; G, the hinge which secures the end of the rear roller-frame to the end of the front roller-frame. As the tongue is hitched onto by the team to draw the rollers over the ground the rear frame is kept in position by the chain F, and the front roller-frame will be kept in position by the tongue, the rollers being set so that their inner ends lap a little; the ground over which they travel will thus be made smooth.
I claim as my invention- Land-rollers O and D, tongue E, chain F, and joint G, all in combination substantially as specified.
