Description

HENcooP ANb THE LIKE W. CULLINANE Filed'Nov. 10, 1924 WxLLIAM CULUNANL INVENTO: 53 m k )L ATTORNEY.
Patented Apr. 14, 1925.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
i HENCOOP AND THE LIKE.
Application filed November 10, 1924. Serial No. '748,966'.
pivoted thereto so that it can be let down iny front of the case member to form a run or folded back over or under the case member as required, and a partition member adapted to divide the case member from the rnn.
Preferably, the coop comprises a case having` a rectangular front and bottom and quadrantal sides; pivoted to and disposed within the case is a hood with'quadrantal sides and a wire-work canopy; the front of the case is provided `with a cover at the top.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, which illustrate one form of device made in accordance with my invention;
Fig. l is a perspective view of the coop closed;
Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing the wire-work door or partition member lowered;
F 3 is a perspective view showing the canopy lowered in front; and
Fig. 4 is a perspective view showing the front door used as a shelter from the weather.
In the drawings, the hen coop is provided with a case a having a rectangular front and bottom c and quadrantal sides d.-
lVithin the case a. is a hood e with. quadrantal closed in sides e and a wirework canopy f. The hood is pivoted at g. The front of the case a has a cover It hinged to it at the top 7' so as to close the case al or to form a sunshade to the hood e when lthe hood is open, or to be folded back to lic on the casing. At the front, the case a is provided with a hinged wire-work gate or partition member. 7c, adapted to be folded down to allow the hen to get out, but when folded up will allow the chicks to pass in and out ,but prevent the hen getting out. The front of the casing a is provided with stays m having rings n to which the cover can be secured when closed down onto the casing. Ventilation holes o are provided in the casing a, quadrantal sides c of the hood e and cover 7i. The canopy f is stoutly constructed 0f the best made-up wire andfgalvanized after construction. The coop itself is very stoutly constructed of the best galvanized sheets and has a loose wooden floor p. Hair dles g are provided at the sides of the coo 3.
In use, the cover 71. is folded back,"the hinged gate c'folded down `and the hen placed in the coop; the gate 7c is then closed `and secured to the stays m by rings fn., or
otherwise. If it is desired for chicks to be enclosed, the hood e is turned on its hinge g outwards and downwards so as to enclose a space in front of the coop and form a run for the'chicks. The cover L, and if desired the case a, are ventilated by holes o so that when closed in, plentyvof air circulates in the coop.
The coop affords complete immunity from i l. A coop comprising in combination a case member, a canopy member pivoted to said case member, means whereby the canopy member can be let down in front of the case to form a run, and a partition member hinged to move as a whole and adapted to divide the case member from the run.
2. A coop comprising in combination. a case member, a canopy member pivoted to said case member, means whereby the caw' opy .member can be let down in front of the case to form a run and a partition memn ber hinged to move as a whole and adapted to dividethecase member from the run, and a cover hinged at the top.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
