Be it known that I, HAROLD D. SLoAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Colony, in the county of Crook and State of \Vyomihg, have invented new and useful Improvements in Propelling Toys, of which the following is a specification.
My present invention has reference to a rolling toy.
My object is to produce a toy representing a submarine vessel, a torpedo, a flying machine or the like which is triangular in cross section and which has its sides provided with rollers, one series of such rollers having intermeshing teeth, and one of the last mentioned rollers having means thereon for imparting a rotary motion to propeller blades which are arranged at one end of the toy, both ends of the toy being pointed.
The drawing which accompanies and forms part of this application, illustrates a satisfactory embodiment of the improvement reduced to practice, and wherein Figure 1 is a top plan View of a toy in accordance with this invention.

Preferably the body of my improved toy is constructed of wood and is triangular in cross sect-ion. The body is indicated by the numeral 1. The ends of the body are pointed outwardly as at 2 and 3 respectively. In the triangular sides adjacent to the ends 2 and 3 there are parallel grooves which provide pockets for the forward rollers 1 and the rear rollers 5. The rollers are provided with short shafts or trunnions that are received in suitable bearings 4 and 5 in the ends of the respective series of pockets. The pockets 6 in which the rollers 5 are received extend through the entire outer surface of the triangular body, and the said rollers 5 have trally provided with worm teeth 8 which are in mesh with a'worm wheel 9 that is journaled in a pocket in the body 1. The shaft 10 of the worm wheel extends through the pointed end 3 of the body 1. On the outer end of the shaft 10there are secured propellcr blades 11, and on the forward end 2 of the toy there is an eye 12 whereby a string may be attached to the toy for the propelling of the same. The toy can turn upon any of its sides and its point ed ends prevent it from being halted by obstacles which would prevent the movement of ordinary toys. The turning of the rear rollers 5 will impart a motion to the propeller blades 11, and it is believed that the foregoing description, when taken in connection with the drawing will fully set forth the construction and advantages of the improvement without further detailed description.
Having described the invention, I claim 1. A toy having a triangular body provided with pointed ends, rollers journaled on all sides of the body, and intermeshing means between the rollers.
2. A toy comprising a triangular body having pointed ends, a forward and rearward set of rollers ournaledln each slde of the body, the rear rollers having their ends HAROLD D. SLOAN.
