Filed Aug. 29, 1924 INVENTOR Awmr 5. BRADLEY ATTORNEYS WITNESSES Patented Apr. 7, 1925.
lenses PATENT OFFICE.
ALBERT E. BRADLEY, OF BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT.
CUE TIP.
Application filed August 29, 1924. Serial No. 734,995.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT E. BRADLEY, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and Improved Cue Tip, of which the following is a description.
My invention relates to one tips having means to detachably secure them to the cue and more particularly the present invention is intended as an improvement on the cue tip forming the subject-matter of a United States Letters Patent granted April 17, 1923, Number 1,452,420.
The special object of the present invention is to provide an improved means for effecting the connection between the one and the tip.
The nature of the invention and its advantages will clearly appear as the description proceeds.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, it being understood that the drawings are merely illustrative of one example of the invention.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a portion of a one equipped with my improved tip;
Figure 2 is a partly sectional side eleva- Figure 3 is a View of the inner end of the tip and its fastening member.
In the illustrated example, 10 represents the front portion of a one having a tenon 11 thereon. Fitted on tenon 11 is a sleeve 12 which seats firmly against the end of the one 10 and extends beyond the same, the front end of said sleeve forming a socket.
Thetip includes the usual disk 13 of leather and applied to the back of said disk 13 is a metallic disk 14. Projecting rearwardly from the disk 14 centrally thereof is a stud 15.
The bore of the sleeve 12 is cylindrical and the stud 15 on the tip is tapered to have a tapered fit in the front end of said bore. The tapered form of the stud 15 insures a tight fit of the stud and a secure holding of the tip in place on the one at' all times. The arrangement positively insures against looseness of the tip and marks an improvement over a threaded connection between the tip and the sleeve 12.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
A one formed with a tenon at the front I end, a sleeve having a cylindrical bore, the I inner end of the sleeve being seated on the one at the base of said tenon and the front end of the cue extending beyond said tenon and forming a socket, anda one tip comprising a leather disk, a metallic disk affixed to said leather disk at the back thereof anda tapered stud central on the metal disk at the back thereof and tightly fitting in the front projecting end of the said sleeve.
ALBERT E. BRADLEY.
