This invention relates to furnaces for burning powdered fuel, and particularly to such furnaces for steam generators. I

In an apparatus of the class described, a semi-cylindrical combustion chamber having its axis transverse to the furnace structure, the rear Wall of said chamber having an air passage therein adjacent to, and adapted to discharge air through the front surface thereof, said chamber having an opening -therefroin to the boiler space parallel with the'axis of said chamber, an inclined wall above the axis of said chamher and forming the roof thereof, a deflecting wall extending from said inclined wall into said chamber to a point adjacent to said axis and having an air passage therein to discharge air'into said opening, and
means to supply fuel to said chamber below said deflector and in front of said axis.

In an apparatus of the class described, a semi-cylindrical chamber having the axis thereof transverse of the furnace structure and having an opening therefrom to the boiler space parallel with said axis, said chamber extending from side wall to. side wall of the structure, a radial deflector wall projecting into said chamber to a point adjacent to said axis and having an air inlet passage therethrough adapted to discharge heated air into the opening from said chamber, and means to supply fuel to said chamber below said deflector wall.
4, In an apparatus of the class described, a chamber extending from side wall to side wall and having a rear wall provided with a semi-cylindrical curved front surface with the axis thereof transverse to the furnace structure and having an air passage therein adjacent tosaid front surface,'and adapted to, discharge heated air into said chamber, a deflector wall projecting into said chamber to a point adjacent to the axis thereof whereby the products of combustion Will be deflected toward said rear wall, and means to supply fuel to said chamber under said deflecting wall.
