Be it known that l, Lun W. Mnncnnn, a resident of La Crosse, in the county of La Grosse and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Tractor Enginesy of which the following is a full, clear, and enact description.

The object of the invention is to iinprove l0 the fran'ie construction, so as to afford a strong and durable structure upon which the engine proper and other working parts can be suitably attached, and give a niechanisrn of sufficient strength at the place of inaxiinuni stress, and be comparatively light and secure in construction.
Another object of the invention is to provide a )nain structure carrying the heavy portion of the load and an extension therefroni in tubular forni for carrying a guide wheel, with means of clamping the tube to the inain structure to prevent rotation of the tube with relation to the inain structure.
Another object of the invention is to provide a lnain france with a tubular strut eX- tending transversely of the structure, with engine sustaining brackets` integral with the strut and extending angularly tothe direction thereof, with means for attaching wheel axles thereto whereby the inain stress of the fraine is carried upon the strut.

Rigidly attached to each of the extremities of the transverse shaft 6"y is a pinion 2l shown in section only in Fig. 10, haif'ing teeth-meshing in gearings 25, attached toward the peripheries of the sustaining and driven Wheels 26, in which at either side ot the structure are mounted the stub axles 1f), the stub axles beingvthe means by which the `trame'portion of the structure is sustained inthe Wheels.
27 indicates a radiator attached intermediate of the length of thetubular extension 15, by means of the clamping bolt 28, and properly connected to the engine.

It is to be understood that while my invention is embodied .in the structure shown and described herein, its scope is not limited to the precise struc-ture shown and described. i 'ift described my invention what l claim is:

12. In a tractor, the combination ot' susu taining wheels, with a main frame comprising a transverse tubular strut sustained in the wheels, means 'for sustaining an engine on the strut, comprising rearwardly and .t'olwardly extending brackets formed integrally with the strut, the l'orward bracket comprising a main portion and sub-brackets formed thereon and diagonal bracing portions between the main bracket and the strut.
13. In a tractor, the combination ot sustaining wheels, with a main trame comprising a transverse tubular strut sustained in the wheels, means for sustaining an engine on the strut comprising rearwardly and forwardly extending brackets formed integrally with the strut, the forward bracketcon'iprisi ng a main portion and sub-brackets 'formed thereon, diagonal bracing portions between the main bracket and the strut, and a longitudinal tubular extension rigidly secured to one ot' the sub-brackets.

The combination oi' traction wheels, a rigid trame, means tor supporting the 'traine by the traction wheels, a tubular arm having its rear end rigidly secured to said 'frame and projecting forward therefrom, a steering wheel connected with and supporting the forward part oit said arm, an explosive engine mounted upon said trame and comprising a plurality ot cylinders and pipes for conducting the exhaust separately trom the cylinders ot the engine respectively to one end ot said arm so the exhaust trom the cylinders will be separately conducted to the arm.
