T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PAUL E. HEnmirANni,
a citizen of the United States, and resident of the city of New York, inthe county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Electrical Attachment Plugs, of which the following is-a specification.
The present invention relates to improvements in electrical connectors, and more particularly to screw plugs.
The main object of the invention-is to provide any attachment for screw plugs, whereby a drop light or other su ""hle electric device, carried by the conductors connected to the plug, may be adjustehly held.-
at any desired distance frornthe said plug.
Another object of the invention is to produce a conductor of the character mentioned which is simple in construction, ellicient in operation, durable in use and which is capable of manufacture on a commercial scale, or in other words onewhich is not so dillicult tonialze to be beyond the reason able cost of such-a cont-rivance.
A further object-of the invention is to so "construct the attachment that it may be pended claims, without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention. 1
One of the many possible embodiments of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1- is an elevation of a screw plug and the attachment, showing the same in position in an ordinary lamp socket, in combination with, an electric heater in operative relation thereto; Fig. 2 is a front elevation, partly in section, of a screw p111 and'the attachment, on a-larger scale; an
Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the attachment. 1 In the drawings, the numeral 10 indicates and .13.
On the base is rot-stahly'mounted a and operation of tin plate member abutting against the under .face of the sleeve l6 and being held. in posicase illustrated in the drawings, to an elecing from the invention, which lies mainly a screw plug, it comprising an insulatin base 11, carrying two electric termini Conductor cords 14 are con with these terminals in the usual Ina shell 15, mounted on'an insulating 1 16. The screw shell is in electric c with a. screw-threaded bushing 17, i fixed in any suitable manner to the l said hushingbeing in electrical engag with the terminal The, screw shell is held in position'upon the base by aing bushing 18, having screw tinemeshing with those of the bushing 1'5". The conductor cords extend through the lousliing 18, as usual in constructions of 1 type. Thus far described,
ele
are a known, so that a, further (is V i clescrip Z5 tion thereof seems to he unnec y.
The attachment comprises e pie 5 member- 20, having a central hole 2'1, through. which the screw-threaded bushing 1? extends, said tion upon the screw plug by the insulating bushing 18. To the. plate member 20 is at tached in any suitable manner a lasilshepcd element 12, projecting; below the said nlete mcmbennncl being centrally provided with an eye 23, to which hooked a pulley block '2 carrying a smell. pulley 25 The conductor cords are connected, in the trie heater 26, the screw plug being in en'- gegemcnt' with an ordinary lamp socket 2? on a bracket 28, the latter lasing attached to a Wall 29, or to any other suitable support. To the heater is secured one end of record 30, which is extended over the pulley 25 and carries at its other end a counter weight'ill. lly shifting this counter Weighhthe heater may he held in any'desired position in rela tion to the screw plug.
It is'ohvious that, while herein a heater has been, described as being attached to the conductor cords any other electrical device may be connected therewith, Without depart:
in the provision of an attachment to sci-cw plugs, in the form of a pulley, over which may oo-extended a cord, one end of which is secured to theelectrical device connected to the conductor cords, 53nd upon the other in end or" which is mountede counterweight.
It is also obvious that, while herein in specific scg'ew plug has been described, the
attachment is.--applicable-to others just as weil. f
"XVhat' I'claim is r '1. A screw-plug comprising an insulating base, electric terminais'carried by said base,
conductor cords connected to said-terminals,
a screw shell in electrical. engagement with one of said terminals, said shell being" mounted to rotate on said base, an-insulating sleeve attached. to said screw shell, a plate member abutting against said sleeve, means for. holdingsaid plate member against said sleeve, and a pulley depending from said plate, member.
2. A screw-plug comprising an insulating base, electric terminals carried by said base,
conductor cords connected to said terminals, a screw-shell in electrical engagementwith one of said terminals, said shell being first-mentioned bushing for holding said plate member against said insulating sleeve, and a member. I
Signed at New York, in the county of New York, and State of New York, this October, A. D. 1922.
