Be it known that I, ZELA'VV. J. NEwcoMB, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hilton, in the county of Monroe and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drying Bars, of which the following is a specification.

The object of this invention is to provide a new and improved constructio-n in drying bars that makes it possible to mount the bars on a hot waterboiler or tank.

To mount the bars on the boiler a circular band 1 is provided. The band is formed up of sheet metal or steel and has preferably a curved cross section as illustrated in Figure 4. To one end of thel circular band is rigidly fastened the angular bracket 2 having the threaded hole 3 provided therein. The other end of the circular' band is provided with a series of round holes 4, 4 extended into short slots at one side thereof. An angular bracket 5 formed on the end of the eX- tension bar 6 is adapted to be adjustably fastened to this end of the circular band. For this purpose the extension bar 6 is provided with a locking pin 7 which projects from the extension bar 6 and has the head 8 formed on the outer end thereof. The head 8 of the locking pin is adapted to pass thru the holes 4 in the endof the circular band `1 and after it has passed thru one of them Vthe locking pin is moved `into the slot at one sidey ofthe hole. The head of the locking pin then holds the pin in place on the circular band and thus locks the extension and with itthe angular bracketl to the endof the circular band. A series of hole-s 4 are provided'so that the extension lbar 6 and its Aangular bracket 5 can be adjusted on the end of the circular band'in order to make thel band "fit boilers of different diameters.

The channel or bracket 10 is `supported on the band :by means of the screw 11 which passes'thru the hole 12 in the middle of the channelinto the threaded hole 13 provided in the end ofthe angular bracket 5. This securely supports the bracket or channel 10 on the bandv 1.

In the top of the channel or bracket 1'0 are with these holes are provideda corresponding series of holes 15, 15 in the bottom of the channel or bracket 10. In these holesv are supported the drying bars 16, 16.` Each of these bars is provided with a ball or head atv each end thereof. The holes 15, 15in the bottom of the channel or bracket are large enough to let the balls on the lower end of the bars 16 pass therethru and this allows the bars to be vertically suspended therethru alongside of the boiler, as illustrated in Fig ure 3. The holes 14, 14 with their slots leading from it, however, are smaller and do not allow the balls or heads of the bars to pass therethru. To'move the bars 16 and hold them in place in a horizontal position in the bracket or channel 10 the bars are lifted until the enlargement or head at the bottom of the bars is located within the bracket or channel 10 and on the under side ofthe holes 14, 14. The bars are then tilted forwardly into a horizontal position allowing the end of the bars to rest in the slot leading from the holes 14 while the head or enlargement thereof nests itself into the holes 14 from the under side thereof holding the bars in a horizontal position on the boiler and preventing any sideward swinging thereof. In this way all or any one of the drying bars may be supported horizontally on the boiler so that clothes can be supported on them and dried by the circulation of warm air surro-unding the boiler.

It, of course, will be understood that besides clothes other articles such as kitchen utensils etc. may be suspended from the bars. The bars for such purposes instead of being mounted well near the top of the boiler as is desirable for clothes may be clamped thereto near the middle or the bottom of the boiler and in view of the fact that the bracket for suspending` the bars can be attached to the boiler at any desired elevation thereon the bars will be found useful for many purposes.

By the use of the circular band 1 and the curved bracket 10 the drying bars are easily mounted in place on the tank and are as easily removed.

I claim:

1. In supporting bars, the combination of a band, a fiXed angle bracket at one end of said band and an adjustable angle bracket at the other end of said band, a channel bracket adapted to embrace the ends of said band and being fastened to one of said angle brackets, bars supported by said channel bracket.

2. In supporting bars, the combination of a band, angle brackets provided at the ends of said band, means for drawing` said angle brackets together and draw said band tight against a cylindrical tank, a curved channel bracket embracing part of said band andy overlapping said angle brackets, a clamping bolt passing thru said channel bracket and threaded into one of said angle brackets, to hold said curved channel bracket in place on said band.

In supporting bars, the combination of a band, angle brackets provided at the ends of said band, means for drawing said angle brackets together anddraw said band tight against a cylindrical tank, a curved channel bracket embracing part of said band and overlapping said angie brackets, a clamping bolt passing thru` said channel bracket and threaded into one of said angle brackets, to hold said curved channel bracket in place on said band, said channel bracket having a series of small holes at the top and a series of large holes at the bottom in line with said small holes, said small holes each extending into a short slot, bars having heads' formed at each end thereof, said bars being adapted to pass thru the holes in said channel bracket, the head at one end of said bars being adapted to pass thru thelarge holes in the bottom of said channel bracket and the head at the other end of said bars being adapted to be held suspended in the small holes in said channel bracket.

4. In supporting bars, the combination of a band, angle brackets provided at the ends of said band, means for drawing` said angle brackets together and draw said band tight against a cylindrical tank, a curved channel bracket embracing part. of said band and overlapping said angle brackets, a clamping bolt passing thru said channel bracket and threaded into one of said angle brackets, to hold said curved channel bracket in place on said band, said channel bracket having a series of small holes in the top and a corresponding series of. large holes in the bottom, supporting bars adapted to pass thru the holes in said channel bracket, heads prol vided at the ends of said supporting bars, said heads passing thru the large holes in the bottom of said channel bracket but being adapted to rest into the smaller holes in the top of said channel bracket with the end ofthe bars resting in the elongated extenn sion of the small holes to support said bars in a horizontal position on said channel bracket.
