To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, Crmnnns E. Horrns, a citizen of the United States, residing at Springfield, in the county of Clark and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Playground Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in playground apparatus, particularly to that kind, of apparatus known as the ocean wave in which a revolving platform is hung from the upper end of a vertical standard in such a way that the platform as it revolves may have a ivoted swinging sidewise motion.
The 0 j'ect of my invention is to provide a rotatable bumper and antifriction device for the platform located at the lower end of the standard for the urpose of eliminating wear between the p atform and standard, and also to reduce friction between the platform and standard to allow for a more free rotation of the platform.

Fig. 1 is a view of an apparatus embodying the improvements.

Referring to the drawings, 1 represents a series of platform members preferably constructed of wood and arranged in circular fashion with adjacent ends connected together by metallic plates 2. An inner ring 3 is also preferably provided which is rig idly connected to the respective platform members by the arms 4. A central standard 5, preferably of tubular form, has its lower end embedded in cement 6 so as to maintain the standard rigidly in a vertical position. Inserted in the upper end of the standard is the reduced wing-shaped neck 6 of a semicylindrical head 7, upon which rests the semi-cylindrical portion of a cap 8. The cap 8 has a pluralit of pairs of ears 9 and between each pair 0 ears is rigidly clamped the upper end of a metallic rod or strip 10, the lower end of which is pivotally connected to one of the metallic plates 2. The cap 8 is preferably provided with an oil cup 11, and an orifice 12 for lubricating purposes.

Rotatably mounted upon the lower end of the standard 5 between collars 13 and 14 is a disk or wheel 15 preferably of wood. Each one of the collars is secured to the standard by a wedge 16 and bolt 17 the collar being provided with an offset ortion having a pocket 18 to receive the wedge.
In operation, the ring 13 as the platform swings from side to side uring its revolving motion, comes in contact with the rotatable bumper and antifriction device to eliminate friction between the ring and the standard, thus preventing wearon the standard to an extent which would endanger its supporting capacity, and also acts to cushion the platform and reduce friction to allow for the free rotation thereof.
