The advantages of the improved construction will be readily apparent without further explanation and it will also vbe understood that various changesin details of construction and arrangement can be made to suit different conditions of use without departing from the spirit of ythe invention which is not limited to the particular construction shown except as pointed out in the accompanying claims.
I claim as my invention:
l. In a window, the combination of a weight box having a vertical slot in its face plate, a sash, a sash weight traveling in the box, a sash chain located wholly within the box, a stud to which the chain is connected, said stud projecting through said slot, an arm pivotally connected at one end to the sash and at the other end to said stud, and a horizontally slotted stop on the face plate of the box, the arm having between its ends a projection adapted to engage said stop, whereby, when the sash is swung inwardly, the chain and the stud are held from swinging movement and the projection on the arm is brought into engagement with the stop.
2. In a window the combination of a weight box, a sash, a sash weight, a sash chain, a socketed vbracket secured to the sash, an arm pivotally connected at one end to the sash chain, a headed stud securedto the arm at its other end and forming a pivotal connection with the socketed bracket and a spring interposed between the head of the stud and the head of the socket, the
socket and the arm being formed with co-V f operating cam surfacesl whereby, when the sash is swung inwardly, the spring is placed under compression and the arm is pressed tightly against 'the socket to form a frictional stop. c Y
