normally immersed within acooling fluidand it has particular relation to containers therefor.
One of the objects of my invention is to provide a container for a high voltage transformer in which the terminal bushings are disposed in insulated compartments which are separate and independent of the main portion of the container whereby the bushings may be individuall removed for the purpose of inspection an repairs without the necessity of exposing the rest of the apparatus.
Another object of the invention is to provide a container of the character described in which the terminal bushing may be so disposed as to decrease the overall height of the apparatus and at the same time to increase `the safety factor thereof with respect to high voltage ruptures.
In the accompanyin drawings;
Figure l is a plan v1ew of a transformer embodying my invention, and Y Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view through the transformer casing taken on line II--II of FigVl, and illustrating the electrical apparatus in elevation.
Referring to the drawing, a transformer comprising a core member l embraced by coils 2and 3, is shown as positioned within a main containing tank or casing 4 provided with a removable cover 5. The casing 4 is filled with an insulating and cooling fluid which completely surrounds the transformer. A cooling coil 6 is mounted directly above the transformer, in any preferred manner, and is also immersed within the cooling fluid.
The container 4 is provided with two oppositely disposed and outwardly extending compartments 7 which are shown as formed integral with the container and adjacent to the upper portion thereof. It will be observed that the portion of the side wall of the tank 4 that is between the compartresi-y ments 7 and the interior of the containerV 4 constitutes partitions 8 which render the compartments entirely separate and independent of the container 4. The partitions 8 are preferably provided with apertures 9 adjacent tothe lower portions thereof which establish communication between the compartments 7 and the interior of the container whereby the level of the insulating fluid will remain the same in both of the compartments and the container.
The compartments 7 are each provided with a removable cover 10 through which extends a terminal bushing ll. The lower` portion of the bushings 1l projects downwardly into the compartments 7 and the fluid contained therein to a point adjacent to the apertures 9. Conductors l2 carried by the bushings 1l extend through the apertures 9 and are connected to the main windin s of the transformer.
he interior of each of the compartments 7 is completely lined with insulating material which preferably comprises superposed layers of fuller board 13.
From the foregoing it will be apparent that by my construction the terminal bushings ll may `be disposed at the side of the transformer and in overlapped relation thereto rather than above the same, there- -by materially decreasing the overall height of the apparatus while in no way reducing its insulating characteristics. Moreover by providing a separate compartment for each of the terminal bushings, which are independent from each other and from the main portion of the container, one of the bushings may be quickly and easily removed for the purpose of inspection and repairs without the necessity of disturbing or exposing the rest of the apparatus, as the fluid in the respective compartments completely seals the communicating apertures 9 and prevents dust or moisture from gaining access to the main portion of the container I claim as my invention:
1. A container for an oil-insulated electrical apparatus, lead-in bushings for said device, and auxiliary compartments for contain-ing oil and adapted to contain said bushings -positioned exterior to said main container but having communication therewith below the level of the insulating oil.
2. A container for an oil-insulated eleclead-'in bushings,

ing a plurality ofeonnnunicati'ngcompartments, for containing an electrical apparatus-disposed Within said container andterminal side of vsaid container and spaced therefrom..
6. A `container "or'an oil-insulated elec-` trical apparatusv comprising a main body portion, and, a plurality4 forv contaimngoil carried'bysaid `body porcinsulating liquid, of
bushings lextending* downwardly into said compartments at eachv 5. The vcombination with afcontainer havor' `compartments tion; each ofsaidj compartments being sepa.y l
