To all whom 2'25 may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM BARRY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Paris, in the county of Lamar and State of Texas, have invented a new and useful Concrete Device, of which the following is a specification.
This invention aims to provide novel means whereby alayer of plaster may be anchored securely on a concrete ceiling.
It is within the province of the disclosure to improve generally and to enhance the utility of devices of that sort to which the invention appertains.
Although a preferred form of the invention has been shown, a mechanic, working within the scope of what is claimed, may make such changes as his skill may suggest, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawings :-Fig1fre 1 shows in perspective, a device constructed in accordance with the invention; Figure 2 is a fragmental perspective showing a portion ofthe first member of the anchoring means; Figure 3 is a fragmental perspective showing a portion of the second member of the anchoring means; Figure 4 is a bottom plan showing the members interengaged, as in Figure 1; Figure 5 is a section showing the anchoring device and the concrete and plaster connected thereto;
Figure 6 is a section on the line 6--6 of Figure 5.
The device comprises a first member 1 and a second member 2, made of metal. The first member 1 comprises a trough-shaped body including a flat crown 3, and sides a, the sides having outstanding flanges 5. The second member 2 includes a flat crown 6 and sides 7, the sides having outstanding flanges 8. Oppositely disposed notches 9 are formed in the sides 7 of the member 2 and in the flanges 8 thereof. The second member 2 is superposed on the first member 1 in crossed relation thereto, as shown in Figure 1, the body 3l of the member 1 fitting closely in the notches 9 of the member 2, the flanges S of the member 2 overlapping the flanges 5 of the member 1 at each side of the notches 9, as clearly shown in Figure 1. U-shapedslits 10 are formed in the flanges 5 of the member 1, the slits defining tongues 11 which are bent over on theflanges 8 of the member 2, as shown at 12 in Figure 1, to hold the members 1 and 2 together at their point of crossing. U-shaped slits 14 are formed in the crown 3 of the member 1 on each side of the place where the crown 6 of the member 2 crosses the crown 3 of the member 1, the slits defining fingers 15 which are bent inwardly toward each other, within the body of the member 1, as shown in Figures 4 and 5. The crown 3 of the member 1 and the crown 6 of the member 2 may be supplied with any desired number of additional U-shaped slits 16 forming underlying fingers 17, constructed like the fingers 15. When the fingers 17 and 15 are formed, openings 18 are fashioned in the parts 3 and 6.
In practical operation, the assembled anchor is placed on a horizontal form 19, as in Figure 1. The concrete 20 is poured or applied otherwise to the form 19 and is permitted to set, the concrete 20 entering the openings 18, and expanding a little, as at 21 in Figure 5, to hold the anchor on concrete. After the concrete has set, the form 19 is removed, and the plaster 22 is applied, the plaster entering the trough shaped bodies of the members 1 and 2, to form ribs 23, and the underlying clinching fingers 15 and 17 being embedded in the ribs 23 in a way which will be clear when Figure 5 of the drawing is noted.
The device, although simple in construction, affords an effective means whereby an intimate union may be eflected between concrete slab and a layer of plaster.
I claim 1. A device of the class described comprising crossed first and second members, each including a trough-shaped body comprising a crown and sides, the sides having outstanding flanges, the flanges and the sides of the second member having oppositely disposed notches receiving the body of the first member, the flanges of the second member being overlapped on the flanges of the first member at the place where said members cross, said members having plaster-clinching elements, and means for connecting said members at the places where the flanges thereof overlap.
2. A device of the class described, con structed as set forth in claim 1, and further characterized by the fact that said means embodies tongues struck from the flanges of one member and interengaged with the flanges of the other member.
