To all Awhom it may concern:
Be it known that we, STEPHEN GonMAN and VVILLIAAI H. C. WARD, citizens oi the United States, residing at Buiialo, in the county of Eric and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spark Plugs, of which the following is a specification.
In carrying out the present invention. it is oui`- purpose to provide a spark plug, wherein carbon or oil deposits upon the elec trodesof the plug will be prevented.
We accomplish the above purpose by providing a main electrode having'a assaoe extending longitudinally theret rougzh, whereby upon the intake stroke of the engine piston, a supply of air will be drawn therethrough, for consequently blowing oft carbon or oil deposits from thel electrodes, the plug also including novel means for preventing the discharge of the gases through .said main electrode. i
Yet another object of the invention is to rovide a plug of the above character that 1s comparatively simple of construction, and
- one that maybe manufactured and marketed at but slightly greater cost than plugs now universally used.
The nature of the invention will be better understood when the following detailed description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing, the invention residing in the construction, combination, and arrangement f arts as claimed.

Surrounding the head 15 of said fitting 1? .is a terrule 19, that is preferably shrunk upon said head, and is provided internally adjacent its upper end with a circular ange 20, upon which is positioned a disk 21, and maintained in engagement therewith through any manner desirable.
