UNITED STATES PATENT @EE-ICE.
IMPROVEMENT IN COOKING APPARATUS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No.
152,306, dat. d June 23, 1874; application filed May 1, 1874.
To all whom -it may concern:
Be it known that I, Mrs. MARY A. SCOTT, otP-atoka, in the county of Gibson and State -of Indiana, have invented a new and Improved Steam Cooking Attachment to a Stove, of which thc following is a specification:
My invention consists of a metal case containing a steam-boiler, ovens, and steamingchambers, adapted to be placed on a stove or range, to generate the steam for heating the cooking-chambers. It is designed to distribute the heat better, and thus utilize it to a greater extent than it is in the common stoves and ranges.
Figure 1 is a sectional elevation of my improved steam cooker. Fig. 2 is a sectional elevation taken on the line x of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a side elevation, and Fig. 4 is a detail ot' the sections on the line :v x ot' Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Arepresents the sheet-metal case, inclosing a boiler, B, bakingovens O, steam-chamber D, and steaming-chambers E F. The steam passes up from the boiler through the ovens, in the tubes G, into the steam-chamber D, under the steaming-chambers E F. From D it is admitted to the steaming-chambers through pipes H, containing cocks for turning it into one or the other, as may be required. I represents waste-cocks, for letting the steam escape from the steaming-chambers to maintain a circulation through them. J represents per-A forated false bottoms to the steaming-chainbers, to let the water of condensation drip into the cavities L below, from which it may be dipped out from time to time. M is a waste-pipe, for drawing the water ott' from the boiler when required.
The waste-pipes I will, if required, be connected with thc smoke-pipe, to carry o the vapor.
This cooker may be set on the top of any stove or range, either permanently or detachably. The steaming-chambers will bc opened by lids on the top, which will be fitted to close tight, to confine the steam.
The boiler may have an exhaust steam-pipe connecting it with the smoke-pipe, if required. The water will be supplied to the boiler B through a spout, O, having a cock, l), to close it after filling the boiler.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The steam-case A, containing a boiler, B, ovens C, steampipes G, steam-chamber D, steaming-chambers E F, and connecting-pipes, in combination, substantially as specified.
MARY A. SCOTT.
