MJ LX F. DE BAJLIGETHY, OF HOUSTON, TEXAS.
STILL.
Application filed April 7, 1922. Serial No. 550,342,
e To all whom it may concern:
'.'Be it known that 1, MA): 3. Dn BAJLIG- Erin, citizen of the United States, residing at Houston, in the county of Harris and State of Texas, have invented certain new and-useful Improvements in a Still, of which the following is a specification.
' This invention relatesto new and useful improvements in a still.
O ne object of the invention is to provide a still specially designed for use in the dis 7 tillation' of hydrocarbon oils and whereby the elements of low gravity may be sepa- -rated from the heavier elements.
Another object of the invention is to provide a still of the character described which is of very simple construction and may be,
/ cheaply andeasily manufactured and which will be very-eilective in entracting from the hydrocarboyr'oils a high percentage of the low gravity elements.
Withthe above and other objects in View the invention has particular relation to certain novel features of construction, operation and arrangement of parts, an example of which-is given in this specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings,
wherein v Figure 1 is a fragmentary plan view of the still shown partially in section and,- Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view.
, Referring now more particularly to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates a boiler under which there is a furnace 2. The boiler is filled with hydrocarbon oils through the inlet line 3 which is controlled by the valve 4. The numeral 5 designates a vat in which there is the condensing coils 6 which dis charge the distillate into a suitable receiving tank 7. The vat 5 is preferably filled with water to keep the coil cool so as to cause condensation therein.
The boiler 1, on eachside is formed with relatively high cylindrical domes 8, 8 one at' each end. These domes have the central vflue connects, said pipe leadin "Within the domes 8 there are the vertical disc like inverted conical shaped perforated bafiies 16 spaced apartj These bellies are an chored at their outer edges to the domes 8 co and at their inner edges to the lines 9 and opposite each baiile there is secured around each dome the annular radiating plates 17. 'lhese plates radiate the heat and keep the balilcs l6 comparatively cool. The fluid in as the boiler is kept'at a high degree. of temperature and the lighter elements are constantly being given off and pass up through the perforated baliles and enter the upper ends of the fines 9 and then pass downto wardly through said lines and through the pipes 11 and 13 into the dome 12 and thenceout through the line 14a into the coil 6, where they are condensed and through which they enter the receptacle 7. The va- "IE5 pors passing through the pipe 11, which is very hot, are further broken down, thus facilitating the process of distillation. The heavier particles are arrested by the bafiies '16 and drop back into the boiler to be a sin $6 broken up by the heat thereimvthe ligr ter elements constantly passing up through the domes 8 and the heavier elements being arrested and dropping back into the boiler.
A very high percentage of the hydrocarbon ea oil in the boiler is thus distilled and the lighter elements are extracted therefrom. What I claim is 1. An oil cracking still including a boiler,
a dome upstanding therefrom and whose upper end is closed, a flue within said dome secured at its upper end to the closed end of the dome and whose up or end is provided with an inlet and w ose lower end extends down into said boilena pipe within as the boiler, normally submerged in the fluid therein, into which the "lower end oi? the outside of the boiler, a plurality of bailies etween said flue and dome and heatradiating members rec carried by the periphery of the dome.
2. An oil cracking still including a boiler, a dome upstanding therefrom whose upper end is closed, a flue within said dome having an inlet opening, baffles between the flue an dome, heat radiators carried by the periphery of the dome, and a conduit ,passing through the boiler with which the flue con-l nects.
\ 3. An oil cracking still for oil'and the like including a boiler, a dome having an inlet opening upstanding therefrom, a flue within said dome and foraminateci bsfiiss surrounding said flue in said dome.
4. An oil cracking still for oil and the like including a boiler, a dome having an inlet opening upstanding ihersfrom, fins Within said dome, and periphsmi best radiutors carrieci by said; dome.
5, An oil cracking still inc-lasing 5;, miles, a plurality of domes, upstanding therefrom whose upper emis are dosed, fiuss within said domes each having inlet opening, an outlet conduit within ms boiler connected to said fines, a condensing soil outsiais of the boiier in which said ouiielfi terminates, foi'aminatsd baiiies around the flues within the domes and psiipiiel'si, has;
