UNITED STATES PATENT @EFEQE.
GEORGE I-I. 'W'EISSLEDER, OF MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN.
COMBINED SANITARY TOOTHBRUSH WITH TOOTH-CLEANING MEDIUM.
Application filed June 18, 1924.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE H. TVEIsSLE- DER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of TVisconsin, have invented a new and useful Combined Sanitary Toothbrush with Tooth-Cleaning Medium, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is the production of a combined sanitary tooth brush with tooth cleaning medium whereby and wherewith the surface of all the teeth of human beings including the spaces and crevices between the teeth can sanitarily be cleaned Without injury to the gums. The said combined sanitary tooth brush with tooth cleaning medium can be produced and sold at a low cost justifying the employment of an unused combined sanitary tooth brush with tooth cleaning medium each time the teeth are cleaned and eliminate the requirement of tooth cleaning paste and powder and the risks of using a contaminated tooth brush of the ordinary kind.
My invention consists of a stick of mucilaginous inner layers of red elm (Ulmus' fol 0a) bark, commonly known as slippery elm bark, an end of which is charred and the remainder thereof uncharred. Through being charred the charred end gains mild abrasive power and the uncharred remainder retains its mucilaginous secretion. The charred end and part of the uncharred remainder adjoining the charred end is frayed into fibres; the fibrous part of the uncharred remainder through being formed fibrous Serial No. 720,864.
also gains mild abrasive power. By wetting the charred end and fibrous part of the uncharred remainder and applying it to the teeth and rubbing it on the surface of the teeth the cleaning power of the charred end and fibrous part of the Lin-- charred remainder manifests itself and the muc-ilaginous secretion contained in the' Wetted uncharred remainder by reason of being wet and being rubbed on the surface of the teeth dissolves and releases itself supplying lubrication during the process of teeth cleaning and thus affording protection to the gums. The accompanying draw ing shows a complete combined sanitary tooth brush with tooth cleaning medium consisting of a stick of mucilaginous inner layers of red elm (Ulmus ful'va) bark, commonly known as slippery elm bark; A is the charred end; B is the uncharred remainder and C is the fibrous part of the uncharred remainder adjoining the charred end.
I claim:
A combined sanitary tooth brush with tooth cleaning medium consisting of a stick of mucilaginous inner layers of red elm (Ulmus fuloa) bark, commonly known as slippery elm bark, an end of which is charred; the remainder thereof uncharred and the charred end and part of the uncharred remainder adjoining the charred end frayed into fibres, substantially as set forth.
GEORGE H. WEISSLEDER.
