UNITED STATES HYMAN BRESLAVSKY, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
FINGER RING AND IMETHOD OF FORMING THE SAME.
Application filed November 10, 1923. Serial No. 674,045.
'1 0 all whomit may cones 1m.
Be it known that I, HYMAN BRESLAVSKY, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Brooklyn, county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented new and Improved Finger Rings and Methods of Forming the Same, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in articles of jewelry and it pertains more particularly to a new and improved finger ring. 1
It is one of the primary objects of the invention to provide a new and improved linger ring which is constructed from a single piece of material.
\Vith the above and other objects in view, reference is had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a plan view of the blank from which the finger ring is formed;
Fig. 2 is a similar view of the blank showing the first step in the operation of forming the ring;
Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the blank after the same has been bent to circular form;
Fig. i is a top plan View of the blank after it has been bent to circular form;
Fig. is a perspective view of the completed ring.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, the reference numeral 10 designates the blank which is of substantially elongated character. This blank is formed on each end with diverging projecting wings 11, which preferably extend to apoint beyond their respective ends of the blank. After the blank has been so formed, the wings 11 are bent upwardly and slightly curved as designated at 12 in Fig. 2 the line of bend being designated by the numeral 13. The blank is then bent as shown in Fig. 3 and Fig 4, into circular form to provide the ring, and when this has been done it will be noted that the angularly disposed wings 11 about one another, and in abutting form a gem-receiving setting or mount 15. The abutting ends 0]": the wings 11 are now rigidly secured together as by soldering, welding, or in any other suitable manner, as indicated by the numeral 16 in Fig. 5, and an integral.
structure in the form of a finger ring is completed.
It is to be understood that the particular design shown in the accompanying drawings is merely illustrative, and that various designs and the use of various materials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention.
lVhat is claimed is:
1. The method of forming finger rings from a single piece of material, which con sists in forming a blank on each of its ends with diverging wings, bending said wings angularly with respect to the body of the blank, bending the blank into band form with the ends of the wings in close proximity, with and subsequently securing adjacent wings together to form a gem setting.
2. A finger ring blank comprising a body portion, and a plurality of diverging wings on each end of said body portion and adapt ed to be secured together to form a gem setting.
8. A finger ring formed from a single piece of material and comprising a blank ofelongated form, adapted to be bent into a finger-encircling band, and aplurality ot wings formed on each end of the blank, said wings being angularly disposed with respect to the blank in such manner that when the blank is bent into band-form, the
ends of the wings on one end of the blank .2
will meet with the ends of the wings on the opposite end of the blank to provide a gem settin HYMAN BRE SLAVSKY.
