Nl'lD STATES JAMES BATES, OF LOB/AIN, OHIO.
JAR CABINET.
Application filed March 10, 1923.
T 0 all whom if; may conce/Mz Be it known that I, JAMns Barns, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lorain, in the county of Lorain and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful lmprovements in lar Cabinets, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to cabinets which are primarily but not specilicially adapted for the reception of fruit, nut and syrup jars employed in conjunction with soda fountains, the nature of my cabinet being such as to receive a large number of these jars and for permitting the ready access to the same, the cabinet being well adapted to be positioned at a convenient place upon the soda fountain.
A further object of the invention resides in the provision of such a cabinet that is of simple construction, comparatively inexpensive of manufacture and highly useful for the purpose intended.
The nat-ure and advantages of the invention will be better understood when the fol.- lowing detailed description is read in connection with the accompanying drawings, the invention residing in the construction,
combination and arrangement of parts as claimed.
ln the dra-wings forming part of this a pplication, like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views, and wherein Figure 1 is a top plan view of a cabinet constructed in accordance with my invention, one of the top walls of the same being partly broken away.
Figure 2 is a front elevational view there- Figure 3 is a vertical transverse cross sectional view upon the line 3 3 of Figure I... and
Figure 4 is a perspective of a desirable form of fruit or nut jar to be used in conA junction with my cabinet.
The jar cabinet is generally indicated at 1, and includes a rear wall 2. a bottoni wall 3, and a connecting wall generally indicated at t, which extends from torwa rd edge of the bottom wall as indicated at 5, to the upper edge of the rear wall as indicated at 6. This connecting wall portion is formed with step portions, the steps of which are generally indicated at T, and which include horizontal oiset ortions 8, which are formed with a plura ity of openings 9, and are serial No. 624,188.
connected by vertical wall portions 10. Each stepped portion 7 includes horizontal portion 8 and a vertical portion 10, and in the construction shown, there are two stepped portions in the connecting wall 4 between the forward edge of the bottom wall and the upper edge of the rear wall of the cabinet. Secured in each stepped portion of the connecting wall, are receptacle supporting members indicated generally at 11, which are formed of angle members having vertical portions 12, and horizontal portions 13, the vertical portions of the receptacle supporting members 11 being attached in any suitable manner to the horizontal portions 8 of the respective stepped portions of the connecting wall, and the horizontal portions 13 being connected to the corresponding vertical wall 10 of the respective stepped portions. These receptacle supporting members being positioned in the stepped portion 7 of the connecting wall, provide a means for supporting receptacles with the upper free edges thereof in the openings 9, in the horizontal portions 8 of the stepped portion 7.
The containers or receptacles which are used in connection with this cabinet, are indicated more particularly in Figure 4 of the drawings, and includes suitable receptacles 14 open at the upper end and of a size and shape corresponding to the opening 9 in the horizontal portion 8, and the depths of thereceptacles are such that when the bottoms are positioned on the horizontal portions 13 of the receptacle supporting member, the upper open ends will lie iiush with the horizontal offset portion 8 of the step portion 7. Each container or.receptacle 14 is provided with its individual cover l5, hingedly connected thereto and normally adapted to close the upper open end of said receptacle, in a mamier as clearly shown in the drawing.
.as illustrated in Figure the receptacle supporting member 1 adjacent the rear wall 2 of the casing is provided with a depending vertical wall. portion 1G. extending downwardly from the vertical portion 1&2. to the bottom wall 3 of the cabinet, to provide an additional support for this receptacle supporting member. The bottom wall 3 of the cabinet is provided at the corners thereof with suitable supporting feet 17 for supporting the cabinet in spaced relation above the floor or other supporting surface.
From the foregoing description, it should he clear that the construction provides :i jar cabinet ot exceedingly' siniple torni, which may, and preferably is, Constructed from sheet metal, in order to 'torni d sanitary cabinet Construction, 'for receivingand supporting in a convenient inzinner, zi plurulit)7 oit similar receptacles, which are adapted to Contain lruits and the like :it soda 'fountziins or in candy kitchens, in e manner to provide convenient access to all ot the receptacles, so that they may he used in the niaking'ot' snndaes, or Lundy and the like. For convenience in identifying the contents ol' these several receptacles in the jur cahinet, vertical Wall portions 'l0 :ire provided with suitable trames 1S, in ifi-ont ot enel: container Yt'or receiving' zi card contaiuin5C,` suitable identiiication ineens for the eontents ofthe particular receptacle.
Having described iny invention, what l claim and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is i A jar Cabinet, including a body havingy a bottom Well, a rear Wall, and ci emineetngl Well between the forward edge ot the hottom Wall and the upper edge ot the rezir Wall, said connecting Wall being foi-ined with u plurality of stepped portions having horizontal offset portions and vertical Wall portions7 ssiidvhorizontal offset portions be ing formed With a plurality of openings, and receptacle supporting ineens `of angular forni, having vertical portions and horizontal portions, one supporting member being secured in each stepped portion of the connecting Wall, and having the vertical portion thereof connected to the horizontal offset portion and the horizontal portion thereot connected to the vertical wall portion tor providing u support for a pluiwility'ot` receptacles inserted through the. openings in the horizontal offset portion of the conneoting walL so that the upper end ot said reeeptacle Will lie'ilush With the tzioeseo'f the horizontal offset portions ot the Connecting' Wallsl` said reoeptuoles being' provided with individual Covers, and the vertioztlportion of the rear receptacle supporting ineinber having u depending Wull engsging'the hottoni Wall of said cabinet.
ln testimony whereof I aHiX inyv signature.
