F. C. SASAKI HANDCUFF HOLDER Filed Jan. 16 1924 mw. ffy 77,6%@ ma Patented Dec. 2, 1924.
UNITED STATES FRANK C. SASAKI, OF POMONA, CALIFORNIA.
HAN DCUFF HOLDER.
Application filed January 16, 1924. Serial No. 686,592.
To all wlw/m t may concern.'
Be it known that I, FRANK C. SAsAKI, a citizen of Japan, residing at Pomona, in the county 0f Los Angeles and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Handculf Holders, of which the followingis a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in holders for hand cuffs and has for an object the provision of a holder which may be carried upon the person and adjustably positioned upon a belt or the like so that the hand cuffs may be at all times accessible.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a hand cuff holder which will securely hold the hand cuffs against loss and in a manner to permit of quick and convenient removal when desired.
lVith the above and other ob] ects in view, the invention further includes the following` novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying` drawings and pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawings 2- Figure l is a perspective view showing the holder arranged upon a belt with a pair of hand cuffs shown by dotted lines in position upon the holder.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the holder in open position and the hand cuffs removed.
Figure 3 is an enlarged longitudinal sectional view showing the holder in closed position.
Figure 4t is a transverse section.
Referring to the drawings in detail wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts. the reference character l0 indicates a belt which may be of any desired type, for example such a belt as is usually worn by an oiiicer of the law for the purpose of supporting a revolver holster and for carrying ammunition. lVhile the holder is shown in connection with a belt of this character which is comparatively wide, it may be used with a belt of any character. The holder comprises a body 10 which is preferably formed of leather, the opposite edges of the material being secured together as by stitching` 11 so as to lform a sleeve for receiving the belt 10. The inner portion of this sleeve, that is, the portion of the sleeve next to the body of the wearer is preferably of the shorter length than the outer portion and the opposite ends of this inner portion are preferably inclined as indicated at 12, so that the sleeve may be more comfortably worn.
The opposite or outer face of the sleeve has secured thereon spaced disks 13 which are circular or substantially circular in shape so that the hand cuffs which are indicated at 14 may be positioned thereover, the width of the disks being sufficient `for this purpose.
Secured to the outer face of the sleeve is one end of a strap 15, the latter extending longitudinally of the sleeve across both of the disks and having its opposite end removably attached to the sleeve by a fastening device indicated at 1G. This fastening device may be in the form of a snap fastener as shown. Similar fastening devices 17 are employed lfor securing the intermediate portions of the strap 15 to the disks 13, so that when the hand cuffs are placed over the disks and the strap secured in place by the fastening devices 16 and 17, ther-hand cufls will be held securely in place, yet may be readily removed when desired. rlhe holder may be adjustably positioned upon the belt 10 for the convenience of the wearer.
The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of the appended claims.
Having described the invention what is claimed is 1. A hand cuff holder comprising a body, means whereby the body may be secured in place, spaced' cuff supporting` disks secured to the holder, a strap having one end secured to the body and extending across the outer faces of the disks and means Afor de tachably connecting the opposite end of the strap to the body and its intermediate portion to the disks.
2. The combination with a belt, of a hand cuff holder comprising a sleeve adapted to receive the belt, spaced cuff supporting disks secured to the sleeve, a strap having one end secured to the sleeve and extending across the outer face of the disks and means for detachably connecting the opposite end of the strap to the sleeve and its intermediate portion to the disks.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
FRANK C. SASAKI.
