JOSE?H l3. llfEOELEt-EALE, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
VTALL BOARD.
Application filed October 2 1, 19533.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that l, JOSEPH F. Moannann, a resident of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, a citizen of the United States, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in l Vall Boards, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in wall boards, designed to take the place of the usual beaver board in common use, the main object being the provision of a wall board which will possess great durability, which. will present an ornamental appearance and which can be easily applied to the foundation or supporting structure of the wall.
Another object of my invention. is the provision of a wall board which will withstand hard service by reason of its reinforced formation, which will prevent the entrance of cold and dampness to guard a ainst weather conditions and which while possessing great strength will be of light weight.
Another object of my invention is the provision of a wall board which can be easily made in sections of the required size and ornamented to suit the user and which will form a smooth, hard wall structure and which. can be produced at a low price all things considered and thus prove useful, desirable and practical.
To attain the desired objects my invention consists of a wall board embodying novel features of construction and arrange ment of parts for service, substantially as described and defined by the claims and as shown in the accompanying drawing, in
which:
Figure 1 represents a face or plan view of one of my wall board sections, the outer covering or facing being broken away to show the arrangement of parts.
Figure 2 represents a plan view of the intermediate or reinforcing member of my board, partly broken away to show forms, tion and the arrangement of the connecting or securing wires.
Figure 3 represents a perspective view of one of the strips or slats forming the intermediate or reinforcing member of my wall board, and
Figure 4 represents an end View of the Serial No. 670,477.
complete wall board constructed according to my invention.
The wall board is particularly adapted as a substitute for the well known beaver board, but .li would have it understood that the board may be used in any situation for any purpose where it would serve, and according to my invention the board is preferably made in. sections composed of slats or strips 1, formed of a core or body of wire meshed material 2, of the required size, on each side of which is placed the covering or coating or layer of plaster of Paris, or other sui able material 8, which strips thus formed are arranged in spaced parallel relation and secured in this relation by the connecting and securing wires or strands 4-, this intermediate reinforcing structure providing the foundation upon which the covering 5, of any suitable material is applied to each face.
It will he noted that the strips or slats are disposed in spaced relation and that. the wires or strands 4 connect and secure the strips in such spaced relation and also form means to receive a fastening or staple for attaching the structure to the studding of the building. It will also be understood that the board or section after being secured is covered with plaster to form the complete finished wall.
.The manner of using my wall board is readily understood from the drawings and description and the board is made of sections of the required size and is fastened in a proper manner to the supporting structure of. the building in any desired manner and provides an attractive, durable, ornamental and weather proof wall structure which will commend itself as practical and desirable.
I claim:
1. A wall board consisting of a series of strips, each comprising a core or reinforcing element, composition secured to each side of said core, means connecting and retaining the strips in spaced relation and receiving anchoring means for said strips and coverings or facings for the said composi tion.
2. A wall board consisting of a series of strips, each comprising a core or reinforcing element composed of wire mesh material, a suitable composition held on each side of said Wire mesh, and means for securing the reinforcing structure, and providing means to receive anchoring fastenings.
3. A Wall board composed of strips or sections each composed of a reinforcing core of Wire mesh, acovering of suitable material on each side of said strips, and cross Wires arranged With reference to the Wire mesh and coverings of the strips to 10 secure them in proper relation.
4. A Wall board composed of strips or slats each formed of a core of Wire mesh, suitable coverings on each face of said strips, cross parallel Wires arranged With reference to said core and coverings to secure the strips in proper relation, and facings for said strips to form a complete covered section.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature.
JOSEPH F. MORREALE.
