IMPROVEMENT IN CUTTER-HEADS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 15L4116, dated May 26, 1574; application filed Maren 16, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM T. SMITH, of Baltimore city, State of Maryland, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Outter-Heads for Moldings, and I do hereby deolare that the following is afull, clear, and eX- act description of the saine, reference being had to the accompanying drawing,` forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a side elevation, and Fig. 2 a horizon tal section.
The invention relates to molding-cutters for bringing piano-legs or other Wood-work into some definite Shape.
It will irst be fully described in connection with all that is necessary to a full understanding,` thereof, and then pointed out in the claim.
A represents a suitable base plate, from which uprises a perpendicular stock, O, having,` side faces c and the upper and lower flanges c o. On these faces and between the anges are placed shanks d of the molding-cutters D. Over the latter are placed astening-plates B, the plates and cutters being then attached rigidly to the stoel; by means of the clamping bolts E E E. The heads of the latter may be eountersunk in the plates and provided with Wrench proj eetions.
This affords a very cheap and durable mode of attaching,` the cutters to their stock, while they may be readilyT removed for any purpose.
I ain aware of the patent granted to Frederick G. Jenkins, No. 38,488, May l2, 1868, and hereby fully disclaim the same.
Havingthus described my invention, what I elaiin is- The herein-described cutter-head, consisting of the base-plate A, stoek O, having side faces c c and upper and lower flanges c' o', ontters I), having Shanks (l, fastening-plates B, and clamping-bolts E E E, all constructed, combined, and operating in the manner and for the purpose specified.
